A Complete Semi-Canonical Timeline


With the help of a few clanmates: Zoli Ben, OrangeNebula, and awalterskong, among others, we've created a complete, 'Semi-Canonical' timeline. I say semi because, there are a couple parts that it messes up some of the rules as has been later discovered, and also because there is one case where one of the quest trail immediately goes into a different direction because of the purpose the timeline was made for.

It was made to be the order of quests that I use for my alternate accounts Apmeken and Ana Meken to redo all quests with no training inbetween in something I'm calling the 'Grand Questing Marathon' . The backstory of the character Ana Meken is that she lived in Pollniveach with her mother who, is essentially a cat-freak, and so under that knowledge, upon completing Gertrude's Cat quest she'd have all the reason to remember and return to her mother in Pollniveach, and therefore do quests like Icthlarin's Little Helper early on. The average character without that particular backstory would have no reason to suddenly go to the desert after getting a cat.

But, other than that it follows all of the rules and guidelines above as much as it can, so if you want to see an example of a complete semi-canonical timeline of quests, here it is.

Anyway, below is the Complete Semi-Canonical Timeline I used this whole post to talk about. I divided it into 5 parts: Adventurer, Champion, Hero, Legend, and World Guardian. You can only fully appreciate a story when you experience it through the eyes of one of its characters.

Note: For the past several quest releases I've just kind of added them to the end of the list since most are 6th age, and they kind of fit well together like that anyway. There are a couple exceptions like Bringing Home the Bacon, A Shadow over Ashdale, Broken Home and possibly Heart of Stone that could use some specific looking at though eventually (especially ASoA because of a journal date). If anyone wants to give a shot at finding a better spot for the newer released quests, be my guest. A Canonical Linear Timeline



Like I said, it'll be impossible to create a complete, fully canonical one, but we can still make progress toward it. In these next few posts I'll compile the order that we come up with, with more people working on the puzzle. Try to avoid using things like location, to determine this particular order, as location cannot be determined completely, there's no reason to specify why someone would go north rather than south at any given time, so lets work on the other factors for this one.

As of now this is incomplete and not started, but in the future I'll add some of my own to this, right now I just wanted to get the base thread up with the base ideas, a few examples and the semi-canon timeline to see if anyone's interested in helping with this project.

So if you are, then post away some of the tidbits you know that would help! You can only fully appreciate a story when you experience it through the eyes of one of its characters.
