I just saw a post on Facebook from a D&D group (judge my life) that described a Warlock as someone who's magic comes from a higher power, Sorcerer's magic is innate, and Wizards magic comes from books and learning... Bards get their magic from sick guitar skills. I can agree with that
(and we cant judge, we all play rs... and probably wish we could find people to do d&d with)
ofcourse, people arent necessarily going to make their wizards like established wizards and so on, so it could all mean nothing Carn

Ya know, that got me thinking. Thormac's a sorcerer isn't he? I don't see him using combat magic, but stuff more based towards utility with the staff enchanting. Same with the Sorceress from the garden minigame. So maybe it's more like...
* Wizardry = general all around magic. Covers everything, but doesn't specialize too heavily into a particular field unless otherwise noted (ex: a wizard from the tower/mages guild vs something like a necromancer)
* Sorcery = focused on things like enchanting and the like. Possibly includes teleportation if we take Hannibus' quote at face value.
* Witchcraft = potions and...maybe low level curses? Seems like the witches we've had significant interactions with so far were just standing around mixing stuff up in cauldrons or being generically evil with their magic and all that.
* Occultist = possibly ritualistic in nature? Like, less runestones and magic words and more like setting up specific diagrams with specific ingredients and such to get a desired result (ex: Zu Zu)
I'm sure I'm probably missing something here. It's kinda hard to tell when I'm trying to remember some of these characters and what they did over the span of a freaking decade
