Obviously not for nuking continents during hissy fits, but you know, something more constructive. Like, I don't know, maybe we could possibly use it to aid us against the elders if diplomacy fails. Sure, it by itself wouldn't be strong enough, but it'd be SOMETHING at least. The Stone might actually be useful in helping the Dragonkin. Sliske managed to lure Strisath with the Staff of Armadyl then used it to find the Stone. I haven't ruled out the possibility of touching the Stone and luring the Kin to me, then using the Siphon to drain out its rage. Of course, this is a risky tactic (they're known to hunt in packs when killing gods) and may not work, but we've been able to harvest Kin memories in One of a Kind and calm Strisath temporarily.

To me, Sliske is the biggest threat so far, but I'm also quite worried about Seren suffering a broken heart and becoming another Amascut. This is why I left the dark shard and Eluned out of her; I wanted to save everyone and keep her happy. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

We are guaranteed a victory. If we don't win to one degree or another and the world is destroyed, then the game cannot continue. It's not the World Guardian status that guarantees our eventual victory. Rather, it is our character's status as the Player Character that does so.

The way things are looking, we're guarunteed to fail. In the short term, we can protect Gielinor, but if Gielinor is without a World Guardian, it will fall. So even if it's just off screen, we're fated to die and the world will eventually crumble. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Indeed, which means most of them are fated to fail. Saradomin can't govern the world if there is no Saradomin. Zaros can't create maintain a "perfect" world if there is no Zaros. Likewise, the World Guardian can't guard the world if they are dead. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. At the time I wrote that post I was under the impression that the Elders would become an active threat; now that we've literally spoken with Jas, who has made clear her "hurr durr we will observe" mentality, I'm not so sure about the urgency of the Elder storyline. Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.
