1) There are a lot of good ideas here. As F-mod Tuffty mentioned above, although auto-chat is supported to a certain extent, perhaps another way to combat players abusing the current PoH system would be to auto-kick a host from their PoH if they are idle too long, for example everyone, including the host, would be kicked from a PoH after the host is idle for 5 minutes.

2) I really like the idea of getting rid of the tip jar altogether- in the long run, this is one way in which Jagex can de-incentivize botting and players abusing the PoH system (such as boosting on the house board).

To expand on this, perhaps the player house advertising board can be multiple pages long in order to accommodate more people who want to be hosts. Another potential way to combat this would be for the board refresh every X-minutes and randomize who is shown on the board. Further, if a player is on the board for too long- their odds for being selected upon refresh could be diminished.

3) As you mentioned, it can be difficult to remove disruptive players from a house. Perhaps, another idea to help ban players from a PoH if they are being disruptive would be to have a system (similar to the 'report' option) where a player that is hosting can manually type in the disruptive player's name and thus that player would be removed from entering the PoH.

4) Removing the option to have players on a friends lists work as an acting player host in a house would also be a great way to combat the aforementioned ad. board abuse.

5) Lastly, as always, many of us are in favor of removing bots from the game. The best we can do as a community is to Report them. Sometimes it can be frustrating to see bots not be removed from the game right away- but Jagex is certainly working hard to do so and they are always working to make Runescape an enjoyable experience for all.

Just like to say it's Not a P-Mods job or postion to report and mute any suspects on request. If they are around then they can follow their Guidelines. They can be player reported in game under Macroing too.

Now if someone is using ingame auto chat that too can't be reported. It's added to the game by Jagex and supported by them.

But if you suspect they are using an Aoto Typer that can be reported for 2 things. 1 Macroing. 2 Disruptive Behaviour if it's done every 2-3 seconds or so.

To combat this issue though Jagex gave us ALL an Ignore list. This does come in very handy by adding disruptive people to said list. They won't pester you again once added.

I do fully understand what you are trying to do here. It was the same on RS3 many years ago when we had the same issue of mass spamming. Sadly nothign was done at that time and it settled down.

Just to inform you, I can tell they are using "3rd party autotypers" how I know is, if a player has their public on auto chat they will see the "built" in auto chat, if a player has their public set to on this does not show the "built in autochat"..

There for any spam that is comming in while the public is set to on is actually a "3rd party auto typer"... and I will try think of some solutions on how to kill auto chats.

This has now been added to the auto chat section as well. Took the red pill and the blue pill, spit 'em both in the garbage!, Being woke used to mean you understood you're a target! And now it's having two good legs and never taking a step forward!

@RabbitMeds Post was to long to reply to so here:

1) I believe you already get kicked after 5 minutes and this is no use because you can stay logged in with an 3rd party auto typer, all you gotta do is type ::renderself or get muted and your chat is hidden and your logged in forever on your host account.

2) The tip jar is the biggest problem and the cause of most of the problems, I am still trying to think of a method to combat this, boosting the ad board maybe a good idea but the problem lays within the add and removing button of the advertising board, the adding is random rng and the removing puts everyone back in the previous spots, so I doubt boosting would work unless that problems fixed, so players can just have 10 accounts and easily get first with rng.

Multiple pages for the advertising board I think will make no diffrence as mentioned before its a problem with the adding and removing, maybe if they gave everyone like 30 minutes each on the board and it rotated it could work then not only 99s but everyone whos like level 75 and over can get a chance to host, its unfair for new players to.

3) This idea is probably the best one you have said. a report feature for poh hosts could be genius, but they can litrally just add ban option as a kick to, so when you ban they are kicked, its just much more simple, unless we was allowed to create our own house moderators, like 5 moderators who can kick from our house, would be awesome.

4) I am not sure what you mean here but theres a plugin called house advertising board on runelite plugins that allows you to do something similar, but no one really knows about it also on mention of friends when your private it set to friends only friends can join, if its off then no one can join, so you cannot really block your private off, if someones annoying you, I mean runelite filter regex can help with this I guess.

5) I have proof on the bot code, files, videos and pictures on the bots, these have been sent to tip off email! I don't think 5 minute idle will do much, considering there is a lot you can do... i.e hold down an arrow key with something which also prevents log out.

I also don't see how removing the tip jar will change too much, people like to pay for a service and most of my money I've made was via trades.

The tip jar never used to exist and hosts made just as much money- ^

lock burners to host only and remove the board all together. <---- two big fixes.

But for real memes aside, the way you discuss topics in a down to earth, rational and borderline blasé manner makes it very clear how sharp you are.

Removing the tip jar, stops the bot hosts from afking they have to constantly be watching their trade and have no chance of leaving their screen.

Agreed lock down the poh to host only, ah men! Do not agree with removal of house board, some people cannot afford bonds for chats so they just need to fix the board. Just wanted to say thank you to Johnor for supporting the POH community!

I just started hosting a couple days ago and I can attest that due to the issues he's stated here it makes for a bit of a toxic environment in the quaint port city of Rimmington.

Would love to see some of these solutions implemented, or at very minimum the proposed updates to the advertising board to make things more fair for all hosts instead of driving traffic to only a few.
