Yet you are (always) downplaying the effect of
- lighting bots so they are on almost 24/7
- advertising bots
- (til) advertisement board manipulation..

as if it is all normal and nothing.... these are things legit players can't compete with...

Its the equivalent of you using a script that auto prayer switches at inferno and then telling the guy that is trying firecape for the first time "oh just do it and get good"
=> playing legit we can't compete against the cheating and corruption

That is in no way comparable. Hosting is a facet of the game entirely built around familiarity and community-building. It requires no playing skill whatsoever. Infernal cape is not earned by people skills or how many people you have in.

A better comparison would, perhaps, be streamers who bought gold or rwt and get hundreds of viewers. Which we all know is a thing. Here's the catch: I am a streamer, and I only get 5-10 ppl in regularly. At first I only got 1-5 and you better believe I blamed those people with bils DMin, just like you are blaming established hosts of cheating. But I was patient and built a community. The twitch recommendations is the ad board, rigged for bigger names. Familiarity too. The bots and gold farmers built [some of] those big name accounts, and they had ad bots and ppl they could pay with their bought money to advertise their stream. They could stream all day cuz it was full time job. I realized I had to stop whining, and engage my viewers, do better content, and connect with other streamers. I suggest you do the same. You can blame all day but even with the ad board gone and bots somehow disappeared for good (which will never happen, and it's not jagex fault), I still would be going to the hosts I know and you still will have to build a community.

This is a better comparison than botting for infernal cape. And hopefully it enlightened you a bit.

@RabbitMeds

I am currently muted in game for a long time, these hosts were using alt accounts to harass my mental health and I got wound up so yeah, I have now just exposed everything fully on youtube "fully".

The issue is still persisting and the users behind this bot and the the main host who is known for using it, is starting to become a troll and a bit of an annoynce.

As has been mentioned, make sure to use that Ignore feature! I see you lately have been at the G.E. discussing inter-host drama, I suggest you don't seek out the drama, use the Ignore feature, and enjoy the many sides of OSRS! Some afk amethyst mining? Some toa insanity? Some clan wars with friends?

Always remember, it's best to take responsibility for why you're muted. It's never anybody else's fault. Otherwise we can't take ownership and change our behaviors in the future <3 it's not jagex's fault, it's not the trolls fault when you could use Ignore, it's only one person's fault. I've been harassed in game for being gay and I used that lovely Ignore and Report button and everything turned out as it should.

Going back to the main topic, I think that these changes wouldn't have a big impact on which hosts people use, since there are more familiar, established, and community-built hosts. And some of these changes would negatively affect new players and a long standing tradition of being paid to run or light or legitimately advertise for established players. So, I still don't see a reason to support them and certainly not to prioritize them, the infernal cape comparison was not a valid comparison.

Of course I agree with the bot crackdown. But as we all know that's infamously difficult and often a waste of time since bots can just immediately reappear.

hmm no

I do get your point and familiarity does play a role, i'll even throw you a bone and let's say it's 3/5 the reason someone joins a house (for this case as i think it's less)

the other 2/5 always downplayed by the "users" of it is just blatant cheating, corruption, botting and attacking or harassing people which no matter how many times you try to get away with, can not be accepted or part of this game

To players that would like to contribute to the discussion regarding improvements to PoHs

Here is a summary of the ideas myself and others have had thus far;

- Removal of the tip jar.
- Making a ledger in a second window on the ad. board. This would include how long a
player has been hosting in a game session and how much people have donated to hosts.
- Improving banning disruptive players from a player owned house (fixing current bugs, etc).
- Removing spam and brazier lighting bots.
- Hosts being kicked from their house and subsequently all players in it if the host is idle for
x-amount of minutes.
- Expanding the advertising board to accommodate more players.

- Ducks Unlmtd ideas on page 5, expanding on the construction skill.
