Hello OSRS Community,

About exactly twoyears ago I started a new iron man journey and very early in the account's days I switched the status to 'permanent' for security purposes (with the thought if I get hacked, at least I will not lose my ironman status). This process used to be able to be reversed via "https://support.runescape.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360000882638-Remove-Ironman-status" -> where one would write an email to the team and the Jagex team would then assist in regards to permanent status. I have now gone back and fourth with the customer rep team and have got no-where and basically told to go make a new account - when this exact process was available prior to the September group ironman update. With that update, my account was switched to "limited" without my consent and now there is further no option to take away a permanent status. I completely understand that this was my choice however this was for security purposes, knowing I could simply just go through a lengthy process to de-iron rather than the in game method (Lumbridge npc). For those unaware, I have several m8's that went through this exact process. Now due to an update in regards to a game mode (group ironman), I am unable to make changes to my normal ironman. If there was any sort of "Heads up" that this would transpire after the group ironman update in September, then sure - I would just be complaining. However, I do just cannot fathom why an update to a completely different game mode affects my two year old account. I simply have started my career and do not have the leisure of playing ironman anymore. I had the most fun I've ever had playing the game; my time enjoying the game mode has now expired and I wish to continue playing via a normal account. As I am sure I am not the only person going down this path now as the world continues to unravel from Covid and people simply have less time to play. I ask the team please takes this enhancement into considerat

I have a maxed iron playing since shortly after ironman originally released.
As soon as I read the patch notes in September I put in tickets requesting to deiron, asking for them to at least give us a few day grace period because there was zero warning and zero information they would be changing the deiron process that existed for 5+ years.
I don't understand this decision at all, save a few minutes of support time while losing some of your longest standing ironman players that want to enjoy the game... Especially with how much has changed in terms of droprates since ironmans original release. The time to complete for most new content is hundreds or thousands of hours compared to GWD being a relatively short grind on ironman release.
In retrospect I would have never chosen perm iron, but it was necessary at the time with such poor account security.

I’m in the same position. Made the ‘permanent’ change as a precaution knowing if I ever wanted to I could go through support and change this. Out of nowhere just as I decide it’s time to make the transition to a main account as I have less time to keep up the Ironman I’m greeted with changes to this that I had no idea even happened. Hoping it gets changed back otherwise not sure how much time I’ll be playing.

+1 to this. I have multiple friends that haven't got the time to dedicate to ironman anymore, and they'd much rather de-iron their account, rather than start a new one from scratch. It's an option that should never be taken from us, sometimes our playstyles change.

I also agree with bringing back the option to remove the permanent ironman status. I went through the same ticket process just to be told to "try and bring awareness" to it and maybe that could help bring it back.

Since maxing the iron, I've had plenty of good days and plenty of bad days in terms of rng. There are times where I appreciate the ironman status, but then I go into a duo or trio cox with friends and I'm praying eagle eye with my rcb to kill Olm. It's not that I'm fine with a rcb, it's that 3k rune drags haven't dropped a single pair of limbs, and 90 cox hasn't gotten me any purples.

There's just no way we could have seen how rough some of the grinds were ahead of time and we definitely could not have predicted some of the content that came out that would take literally thousands of hours to complete. Bringing back this option to de-iron would not affect anyone else in the player base whatsoever, and I HIGHLY doubt it creates a massive influx of work for those working at Jagex, as they already had the infrastructure set up for it prior to UGIM.

Bring it back, PLEASE.
