I strongly disagree and don't support.
Although what you say in your intro is more or less true, adding more content which is synonymous to RS3, just makes OSRS that much closer to RS3.
In the grand scheme of things, everything adds up. Let's say we add summoning, then what? People may want other content that was in RS3 aswell, and then more and more RS3 content will flow into OSRS, so much so that the 2 will be indistinguishable.
The whole point of OSRS, is to try and keep it as much the same as it was back in it's original state.
Yes we need updates to keep the game fresh, but that doesn't mean we should import exact copy replicas from the other game. It would ruin this games integrity and uniqueness.
If you want some kind of skill where you can summon beings, like a classic summoner class in RPG'S, possibly consider coming up with something unique and new that could fit within OSRS's needs and barriers.
My post actually is an alternative to Summoning which I thought about for along time. Because I too would like some kind of way to summon creatures, but not the same way as it is in RS3. It has no place in OSRS.
Check out my post: "New Magic: Necromancy."
Instead of adding a new skill, I give an idea to revamp some dead content in OSRS; the Arceuus Spellbook. (Necromancy).
Let me know what you think.
