I would love it if quest experience rewards were provided as lamps like they are in RuneScape 3.
That being said all the quests leading up to items will level various stats in Attack, Strength, Defense, Hitpoints, Ranged, Prayer, Ranged, Magic.
I've looked at Adamant Gloves for instance and its quite a lot of combat stats all around outside . I believe overall defense is the only real contender people are worried about and for the most part it's expected to level Attack, Strength, Prayer, Magic, Ranged, Hitpoints and very rarely would a Defense Only pure be effective anyways. So we can stick to strictly Defense Requirements and possibly subtle Attack or Prayer as seen fit. To reduce awkwardness in having 7 stat requirements.
So between the 3 major skills you the following stats would become required to wield Adamant Gloves and no longer be Quest Locked since the Quest wouldn't directly give said experience.
- 2000 Defense (13 Defense)
- 2621 Prayer (15 Prayer)
If this was done to all equipment in the current states that would need these kinds of stats added where Prayer can be added to anything and Defense/Attack depends on the item in question.
What benefit does this provide is that it allows ALL players more opportunity to access parts of the game and experience the quest lines as well as getting access to features like the dozens of quests locked behind Nature Spirit such as Fairy Rings. As well as making it possible to earn Quest Capes and Achievement Diaries which is a fun and engaging part of the game. While not disturbing skill requirements to obtain specific equipment in the game.
To elaborate this would not effect quests with Base Requirements within quest. For instance Lunar Diplomacy will always require 40 defense due to having to wear Moonclan Gear. The goal is simply to remove direct experience gains, but add stat requirements to gear that has none but expects limits due to quest completions. Opening more of the game to players.
