Castle Wars is a fun minigame - if you have a maxed out combat account. You can do decent with high-average stats, but what I want is for everyone to have fun playing CW,
so that's why I invented the support role; the Banner Carrier.
Banners are items loosely related to the Banner Carrier from RS3, just with a longer pole, and a human holding it and not an imp. The symbol on the banner will be either a Saradomin or Zamorakian symbol, respectively for each team. It is held in both hands.
While holding a banner, your allies receive a morale boost, increasing damage output on enemy flag bearers, as well as raise the defense of everyone around. This bonus will be instantly removed if you were to remove the Banner. Also, bandages can be used on
allies with increased healing effects. The effects would take place only 10 seconds after equipping the banner.
Banner Carriers can also occasionally root a flag bearer if they hit them with the banner.
Needless to say, a Banner Carrier cannot pick up the flag without first removing the banner as a held item, which takes away the bonuses.

This is a good idea because it lets low levels actually be useful in a Castle Wars game, as they can run with the bigger pack of higher levels and protect them. Of course combat level will still have a very big impact on who wins the game, as well as strategy, but this just helps lower leveled players be a little more useful.
Of course, if there are several banner carriers, there would have to be some diminishing effects so that the bonus effects are not unlimited.
Maybe calculate the bonuses like this:
1 banner carrier - 50% bonus damage and 30% bonus defense.
2 banner carriers - 65% bonus damage and 45% bonus defense.
3 banner carriers - 75% bonus damage and 55% bonus defense
4 banner carriers - 85% bonus damage and 65% bonus defense.
5 banner carriers - 95% bonus damage and 70% bonus defense.
Max cap reached.
