I understand not adding it to every armor piece. That isn't what I'm suggesting. The monkey backpack is purely cosmetic with no stats. I would modify the above suggesting, saying that it only gains this ability after the 2000 laps on ape atoll. I feel this would be fair since you spent so long on ape atoll and you don't gain marks of grace there. :)

Yet whats so bad about items being just for looks?

Why must everything have benefits?

Theres going to be items, like holiday ones, that dont/shouldnt give any benefit.

In regards to Duel Arena changes,

While waiting for the end of duel arena. A few ideas I have tossed around.

Implement a higher tax, As proposed I know the current gold sink is nice but a drop in the bucket. Making the tax something more impactful would take much larger amount of gold out of the game and thus giving more incentive to make money elsewhere. New taxes being 3%,5%,10%

Next to help stop with scamming to introduce different rooms of duel arena. Where the rules are static so no last second changes are made. Examples being Anything goes area, Restricted only main hand melee room with only empty inventories, etc etc

Another idea would be to much some limitations on the duel arena area. Restrict down to how many duels an account can do in a day/week ( Kinda following the idea of dailys or diary's ) So once an account has done 5 duels it must wait X amount of time before it can partake in another duel. Lock this all behind lets say the Medium or Hard Desert Diary. This will help combat gold farmers as well since this will add extra hoops and hurdles to get an account to that ability to stake as well limit the amount of stakes

Finally the idea that Mod Kieren put in the livestream about money being used to take items out of the game. We have seen even the numbers for the current tax the duel arena takes out. Why not start using that to start buying out items from the game instead of waiting for a GE tax.

All for progressing towards a better game state. Many will oppose but just some ideas I tossed around.

There's a lot of Toxicity on Osrs these days and thought maybe there should be a system in place that rewards players for good behavior and a punishment in place for bad behavior. bad behavior such as scamming, foul language used towards another player, disruptive behavior, botting, etc. should result in being sent to a Penalty Server with restricted access to certain bosses, trading and other features for a certain amount of time. Maybe this would straighten out some of the toxicity in the community.

Clan coffers should not have donation limit of 1m. Instead endless to have more capabilities to reward clan members for their effort towards the clan. Or arrange something to really reward someone.

Another small thing that I found annoying while being f2p, was not able to view member skill xp while in game. This was not the case last year. This is not been the case forever.

Idea 1: Make item to note tablets. They could cost ~1k of runes. I would propose they cost 3 law runes and a soft clay. They increase the value of law runes which are currently near alch value and be an additional item sink since noting items can already happen for free at banks and with some farming items and achievement diaries. There could be limitations on which items are note-able.

Idea 2: Make the looting bag usable outside the wilderness. Add a coin pouch option to it where it's like the construction skill's butler bag and you can preload it with funds and whenever you add an item to it outside the wilderness, it costs 1k gp (amount is flexible). Maybe have the game economics firm do some modeling to see what amount would be necessary to combat the extra items in the game that wouldn't expire from dropping.
