The free items are not automatically awarded. You have to go into SGS and on the left-hand side in the pane, there's an option that says "Free items for members." Go in there and and there should be at least one item whose price says something like 200 RC - 0 RC! . Click 'buy' on that item and it'll say it'll cost you nothing

As stated above, you have to go to SGS and go to the section listed as "Free Items For Members."

There is 1 item that will change monthly. Sometimes they will give us 2 free items a month if it is a special month such as December (Not always) or if they miss a month.

Note: You just have to have membership at some point in that month. The only thing you have to wait for is for Jagex to update the item. You don't have to have a special membership package either.

The free item can be virtually anything on the SGS store. Very rarely there will be a teleport or pet for free. For example, last months free to members item was the Drakefire Warship, which I sadly missed.

That being said, once that month is over, you cannot claim that item for free anymore unless it returns as a free item fore members.

This has been going on monthly since 2013. Come the Sixth-Age, the world will need the World Guardian.

That being said, it is possible that the Nefarious items will be free next month. So I wouldn't buy those until next month if you are planning to buy them.

I say this because Burning Truth and Wildfire were in a poll together on twitter with 2 Nefarious items. It is also however possible that the went with Burning Truth this month because it tied with Wildfire in the poll.
