The main reason I chose to play Runescape over other MMOs was because it didn't have any micro transactions, and now the only reason I still play is because I'm addicted from when I was younger. Do you see any actual new players that play for a reasonable amount of time now? I certainly don't, and the only players left are people that have been playing for years, and just can't stop playing this highly addictive game.

Micro transactions are not illegal else the majority of all the games which utilise them would be gone by now. There are plenty of other games that use a random chance wheel - see nearly everything that Aeria Games hosts. You don't see the people there whinging every week either.
Jagex is also controlled by a different set of people now. The rules everyone keeps harping on about were introduced by the original founders who, surprise surprise, don't run the company anymore. Ergo the original guidlines and whatnot they put down were open to change by whoever owns the majority of the stock.
As for people who have the money in real life to afford it, let me ask something. Whats the difference between someone working 8 hours a day and spending 10% of what they earned that day to buy spins as opposed to someone who grinds for 8 hours a day?
It's all just a bunch of whining about nothing. You know what devalues items in games further? Bots, that's what.
You have bigger issues to worry about then people dropping 20 bucks a month or so on spins.

You get paid to go to work. You pay to play a game. You are not supposed to pay to not play a game. If you do you are stupid and I do not want stupid people at the top of the game I play, who bought their success. If people bought Football trophy's nobody would care who won. It would be a bad game.

If you buy 100 dollars worth of spins and beef up a totally brand new character. Then sell that character for 150 dollars depending on what you get from SoF = Gambling, RWT, Rule breaking and a number of other problems.
This is what Jagex promotes to its players now....

I also disagree with this whole double spin weekend, but it would help the newer players get a stronger foothold of the game.
As to those who already bought spins and complain about not getting their double spins, it doesn't start till the weekend, meaning Friday night....

here ye here ye! the great prophet Salamando has spoken! But now that you mention it, it does suddenly anger me that IVP introduced sof. Had Jagex done it, it would've been cool. But now that I know someone else took it over and is doing this... I'm ashamed...

You trade the use of your time for money whilst you work. You trade the use of your time to grind whilst you play.
You're still using up time, regardless of how you look at it.
Why do you care so much if someone buys their way to the top (lets not forgot that to actually do that you'd need to spend tens of thousands of dollars which is a sum I highly doubt your average player has lying around to waste) when it means nothing in the grand scheme of things?
Do you really think that people are going to care that you got a completionist cape? if you walk up to the them in the street and tell them?
It's a game, it's supposed to be fun, not something that you whinge about incessantly.
