I remember the days when RS GAVE us increased bankspace right before releasing new skills or other big updates. At least we're getting stuff for the Loyalty Program again; but still, if we're going to have this Solomon's General Store thing it should remain cosmetic stuff only.

Isn't that the same phrase Mark Gerhard used to wave away concerns about peopel buying an advantage? "Simply not true" must be the catchphrase of the year at Jagex HQ.
Sign on the wall: "When players see something bad that has happened or will happen with the game, post that it's SIMPLY NOT TRUE and all will be well."

I think this is a valid update, and God knows I've been fiercely against all this sort of stuff before.
Bank space is perhaps the first thing that Jagex are selling in their little 'real life' initiatives that I think is completely legitimate; however little it is, more bank space means more storage space required in the databases for players' items. That does incur a cost; personally, I think if people want more bank space and are willing to foot the bill for that, it's completely acceptable.
That's not to say that I'm still not completely cynical about the rest of it. Outfits, emotes; to say that extra dev time has been paid for for that is laughable; such things shouldn't be sold in a subscription game.
And.. as for claiming that RS gold is not on sale, I'm sorry Jagex but that's just not true by any measure; at least, not since you added a conversion option to everything on the Wheel of Fail.
