I currently have 556 bank spaces. With everything deposited, I currently have 5 spaces remaining. While some of these spaces contain essential items (my dragon hatchet, pure essence, a cannon, various seeds, various ore placeholders, and my granite armor, to name a few), many spaces are taken up by useless items or items for quests I've either yet to finish or have finished and don't use (ogre bellows, pie shells, Gianne's cook book, a cape, four stacks of flowers, a cabbage, a broken staff, etc.). I could probably easily halve my occupied bank space with a good old-fashioned bank sale, or by simply upturning everything into the GE. I, however, haven't gotten around to it, so my bank sits there.
Having the ability to purchase more bank spaces is nice, even though I never intend to. Being able to spend Loyalty Points to do so is a very appreciated thought on their part.
The biggest problem I'm seeing about this is that everyone who has posted on here so far (which doesn't even make up 1% of online players, let alone total players) seems to think Jagex has violated their promises. More bank spaces does not equal real-world trading, nor does it equal an in-game advantage. I have a full bank, and I don't feel at a disadvantage. On those rare occasions that I actually clean out my bank, I don't feel more advantaged or successful for having tons of room. It does give me more room to store items I can sell, but then again, until I sell them, my bank is full. Instead of selling everything now, I can pay money to sell everything later. Nothing in this feels like RS is betraying me in any way.
Also, it's just bank space. Jagex is trying something new. It's not like they're really selling gp or XP. I love the Squeal of Fortune - I get free spins and free items for remembering to log in every day. While buying spins may net me some cooler items quicker, there's nothing there that I couldn't get in-game with a little work.
In short, deep breath everyone. It's just a game.
