Wow. Just, wow!
I didn't think Jagex banned anyone any more. Maybe it's because it was only a small number of players, the bean counters decided the PR boost from announcing they were banned would make up for the loss of revenue from banning these accounts...
I'd like to believe that this "new technology" will mean Jagex ban all the people who have ever botted or bought gold. But I'm not getting my hopes up, first because this would be so many players that the revenue from them not buying membership would be significant, and IVP value money over fairness; and second because the last time Jagex talked up new technology, they said they could bring the wild back and their new technology would make sure it didn't result in an increase in the number of bots...
Still, this particular step is a good one, and should be commended, and I don't even mind Jagex making a song and dance about it like they have - it's a much better thing to celebrate than permitting automatically generated bot accounts to increase the number of accounts made to some arbitrary round number :)
Scales of Justice item to celebrate this victory for fairness pl0x? :D

Wow! lots of complaints here. i do not approve of bots. But still, the bots are the ones who get the whole thing blown up in their face when they are maxed. then they have nothing left to do in rs, and they have spent a crapload of their own money on nothing. I am only happy that some bug abusers are out of this world. and even if there are millions of other offenders left, Jagex still made an effort to remove them. we should just be happy that jagex cares at all, compared to other certain mmorpg developers. And if Jagex did tamper with the Runescape market, that is to be expected. they are the game developers after all. So stop complaining and be happy that Jagex is trying to make Runescape a better place :)

It is a shame to see people exploiting this game, and I'm very happy you dealt with them swiftly. I'm also very pleased you posted this on the main page of the website. Thank you, Jagex. I appreciate your effort in this matter =)

The difference between banning bug abusers and bots is simple. Bug abusers make heaps of money RTW'ing what they abused. Bots and gold farmers make heaps of money RTW'ing what they botted/farmed.
Oh, wait... that can't be right.
Must be that IVP makes more money from bot and gold farming accounts than from bug abusers accounts. Yeah, that must be it, since there are so many THOUSAND of bots and gold farmers they surely do pay much more into the coffers than 20 or so bug abusers.
Maybe you guys who got banned should have bought lots of spins and sgs crap. Then you would have been paying IVP enough to get a lighter sentence.

If your going to remove gold that came in through a glitch (as a result of your own imcompetence) I would appreciate a refund of the difference in price between the inflated price and real price.
Another example of where the end-user loses out due to untested work.......

Also bugs are usually found out by mistake and then spread by rumor, while bots are programmed by people that are actually intelligent and have actual programming knowledge. And while bugs are inherently the fault of the game's programmers, bots are not.
