I am pessimistic at this situation, Jagex. I am pessimistic when two week's worth of news articles span three pages, yet only one (temporary) update is of actual game content. Expected, yes, but look at the rest of them, take away the community related articles, we are essentially inundated by promotions of the squeal of fortune and solomon. Just imagine a complete newbie to Runescape who enters the real homepage for the first time - an absolute myriad of just dodgy money grabbing "offers", articles on the ridiculous squeal of fortune and not to mention the "reminders" that Jagex give just to squeeze that little bit extra cash for their investors' champagne.
Now I look at this - a summer party. Hmm. A party? Really? A party to mark one of their deepest lows that Jagex and their investors have plunged into, perhaps. These shark fins have actual stats which affect one's gameplay. What a disgusting way to promote spending in the game.
Investors, in four months you have transformed a (perhaps) respectable game into a money squeezing scheme, disregarding any feedback of any possible reason, where you are in turn rightly opposed and debauched against. Perhaps in a sad way I should say: How glad I am, that I have enjoyed RuneScape at its best; and I thank Jagex in doing so. But not anymore.
Cogito ergo sum.

First off, awesome name.
You're right, this is one of the things that bugs me most too. If this would be about cosmetic items only, I probably wouldn't mind, but these money making things do interfere with the game. In fact, the Squeal of Fortune and Salomon's General Store have priority over the, to quote you, 'good content' like quests, minigames and anything with lore really.
And it's annoying too! I mean I don't want windows popping up when I log in only to hide them for 5 days and promotial emails for "content" that I never wished for in the first place. Forgive me for being pessimistic here, but I believe this game is going down like Maplestory (at the hands of the same people too).

Dear jagex,
we understand that ivp basically has your nuts in a vice and makes you put these updates into the game, but when every single comment is negative, and there is already 5 pages, and soon to be much more. Maybe you can take a hint

i was considering buying membership, but is this all you got nowadays? Jagex get your head out of your ass, the players have been so mad about this SOF and SGS thing and you continue to update it. If it's going to stay at least have the decency to make all items cosmetic rather than give xp, coins, or items that have stats or that are tradeble.

When I first logged into RS, I looked at the emotes tab, and thought 'Oh, I have SO got to EARN all of these emotes. And I have an awful lot of them now. But earlier this year; "What's this? Runescape is implementing a real money trading system? THIS INCLUDES EMOTES! I WOULD NEED TO SPEND £34.99 (Nearly a year's membership) to get all of these emotes! Why, Jagex, why?"
Now today, I see that an emote is going up on the SoF! So, I cannot earn it. I would have to win it by blind luck! So, unless I decide to spend yet more money on SoF spins so I have a decent chance of winning the emote, I will NEVER EVER be able to get it, so I will NEVER EVER be able to finish my emote collection.
I have paid Jagex the full membership costs. No single person has ever reported me for anything. I have played most days. I am likely to get my first 99 during September. What have I done to have my chances of getting a complete set of emotes dashed against the wall in favour of people who are willing to waste all of their money? As far as I am aware, half the appeal to games like this is that they are acessible to all, not just those willing to spend, spend, spend.
I understand that you need to make a certain amount of profit, Jagex. But, please, could you be a little more subtle? I know that I voice many people's opinions when I say that some people CARE about their looks and HAVE been loyal members for however many years and so DON'T appreciate Jagex suddenly trying to squeeze money out of them.
Why not just add this emote and the ones in Solomon's general store to the Loyalty programme, or offer a way to get runecoins from the loyalty programme? I know that this strategy would appease me and many other Runescapers out there, and I would urge you to at least CONSIDER this.
If any J-Mod or anyone else high up in the workings of Jagex sees this message, please, please reply. I would love to see you fix this almighty money-squeezer into a viable system for all. Thank you.

I'm a 5-1/2 year veteran of this game. My heart is dying... death by a thousand cuts. The sheer volume of miscellaneous items, emotes, outfits, gadgets, small xp boosts, vanity wares, etc. is Mind-Numbing!
There was a time when you could get your head round this game, and make plans and set goals. Now, its as if the universe has exploded in a million directions, and you are attempting to keep all the little pieces from getting away....
At this point, with so much of the content being purchase based, I feel defeated. I simply don't have enough cash or time to keep it up. It's overwhelmingly too much, and I feel like the game has been virtually ruined in the process.
I understand what is happening and why. I'm just very disappointed, deeply saddened by it, and questioning my motivation to continue with it.
If only all this was just a bad dream.... :(
Sincerely,
ITIontrose
