I'm also with SeerRommel. I don't like adding in microtransactions, but if it was showing an actual benefit to the game I'd probably be willing to suffer through. Instead, we seem to be getting more and more weeks where the big update is to SOF but not to actual in-game content (I'm sorry, but I still refuse to call SOF 'game content'). To be honest, it seems like we get more updates to SOF than to any type of content, if not to the game itself.
More recently, the FAQ for Solomon's shop explicitly states that the revenue from Solomon's shop is to offset the cost of development for items in Solomon's shop. Is that what's going on with SOF as well? Creating ways to charge extra money so you can create ways to charge even more money is not what the players want to see.
As far as improvement to game content, other than many update weeks being replaced with SOF updates, I haven't seen any real change in quality. However, we still haven't seen many improvements that have been hinted at. We're still waiting on the next escalation in the fight against bots and 3rd party RWT. Combining the fact that many players still have lag issues, that botting has increased even after the previous bot nuke, and the fact that the updates we have seen have either been replaced or tarnished with more SOF, the argument that this is all for the greater good starts to seem lacking.
Edit:
I'd also like to point out that, after looking at the homepage, I realized that the one major update/event going on right now in the live game (Gielinor Games) is behind two different promotions that Jagex is pushing (the pendants this week and Sizzling Summer for next month). But the game still comes first, right?
