I'm going to have to join the hate brigade here for the gollowing reasons:
How long before a non-cosmetic item is introduced to the shop? A lucky Chaotic Rapier perhaps like the 'Lucky' items on SOF or some armour to match torva/pernix etc. Why train when you can buy?
Don't think it will happen? Remember when Jagex stated they would not make any new rare tradeable items? How does that promise stack up against a soon to be discontinued Fish Mask. Oh did I mention that Jagex had previously stated there would not be any tradeable items from SOF.
Since Jagex UK became Jagex USA it has completely sold out. They have adopted the 'Exploit your existing customers' strategy for revenue generation.
Jagex seem to be positioning themselves somewhere between game developers and gold farmers where everything is available at a price and everything is what they decide they want to sell.
I also think that it's sad that people are now buying 99's from SOF (99 Slayer can be achieved in 2-3 weeks from abbout lvl 70).
Please stop the sell out!

Just another money grab that will take hours of the programmer's attention instead of taking care of the real problem, the constant crashes and millions of bots and actual good content updates (face it, that last quest was lame).
This ship is sinking and the captain is asleep at the wheel, dreaming of how much money the passengers are going to give him. Hope he wakes up before it's too late. I know when it gets to the point that I give up my $5 a month membership I won't rejoin at $8 or whatever it is now if they decide to fix the problems.

I'm not jumping to conclusions, I've always hated this kind of thing in every game/website that gives you an avatar to costomize they always had Special items that could only be bought with real money. I wasn't raging at first but now I'm all grumpy becasue I saw something that seemed pretty cool but I can't get it because it costs 16 more coins than I have and the only way to get those last 16 coins is go to the nearest walmart (wich is not anywhere near me) an buy a card for runecoins (I don't have a means for paying online for coins)

This is actually a really cool update tbh. The items sold in the store are cosmetic so they don't give other players advantages if they buy them (Good job on that Jagex :P ). Also, the items and emotes are actually really cool.

i lyk the change to mainstream, but in rgards top the future i will hate you all so much if there is the option to buy the ability to make you better, like strait up buying of auras...not that auras should somehow be attainable without membership to be constant..

Tremendous disappointment! Runescape was the ONE game that didn't try to find ways to squeeze extra money out of its members. I always recommended Runescape to people by saying that the makers of the game really ran it in an honorable fashion, giving a generous amount to free players, and working hard to make membership worthwhile. How disappointing it is to see Jagex now pander for a few extra dollars. I can see that my time here is coming to a close. Sigh!
