I wonder how many microtransactions Old School gets?
Just bonds. I don't think they even allow threads suggesting further mtx for old school.

I am a player who enjoys runescape every other month because of price already, you raise the price of bonds out of game then ingame will go up as well. This is how you continue to lose players other than the try hards. Bout to lose your casual players in the US!
Very few people as of yet have left runescape because of continual increases in price. In my honest opinion that will soon change if jagex keeps to its new financial program of maximizing profits instead of optimizing them. Keep prices down, encourage more new players or increase price ond rely on the fewer diehard runescapers.

At this point, it seems like this version of Runescape primarily caters to long-time subscribing players. I'm not doubting newer players exist, but I feel like there is a reputation that RS3 was not the best newbie-friendly game. Price increases certainly aren't going to win over any significant amounts of potential newcomers now.
They better hope that mobile nonsense is as big as they believe it will be.

How sad this game has become. I've literally moved on to Steam ever since I quit this game in 2015 but here I am. Probably because I still care for this game but the way Jagex kills their product it probably won't last long. This isn't how you bring new players and keep your old ones Jagex.

I fear it's only a matter of time before the maximum amount of microtransactions and membership possible won't be enough, and Jagex will have no choice but to do this. By doing that, people will riot, people will quit. It's a Lose/Lose situation.

I don't agree that it's a lose/lose situation. In fact, I truly believe that had they either added that additional $5 per month to old school (what the votes achieved warranted) or added mtx of some variation in the first place, this price increase in membership might not have been necessary now.
Jagex IS a company and in this situation it's a company that provides a product that still holds interest to a fair few.. a game, that people still want to play. Yet many seem opposed to actually paying for that.
This announcement alone has brought out more anti-jagex commentary than I've seen over a 12 year span.. all over a buck and a half per month increase. That suggests that no matter what jagex does, there's always going to be a 'vocal minority' who don't want to pay for this game so I see no real harm in them adding mtx to old school if it will help them stay in business longer.
If "people will riot" it's not because of anything jagex does or will do, it's because of a lack of maturity in those people (I mean, do people riot when the cost of food goes up? Seems to me, "riots" should be reserved for real life matters and not costs that are optional in a game).
The old school (daily) player numbers are easily twice what RS3 has so I see no reason why mtx shouldn't be added to old school.

Interesting aspect to this is the Unannounced MMO, which as already claimed many RuneScape developers (none have went in the opposite direction). Jagex tends to have far more job openings for this game for the last few years. Besides the 50.8% profit margin that is transferred the Chinese investment group that owns Jagex, some substantial amount of your subscription fee is likely paying for the development of this new game. Based on hiring numbers and profit margins, I suspect only about $2 of the monthly fee actually goes to RuneScape development.

Not exactly. Since Jagex doesn't prohibit conversion of RS3 gp into OSRS gp, essentially, all benefits players obtained from MTX in RS3 actually also present in OSRS all the time.
So the correct answer to "how many microtransactions Old School gets" is technically only bonds but practically all the MTX in RS3.
