What a shame... it doesn't personally affects me since my membership is grandfathered; but i do wonder where the "excessive MTX is good because that prevents membership fees from going up" excuse will go now that membership fees are going up anyway... maybe you guys at Jagex might want to consider adding a Loyalty Points option to most of the stuff in Solomon's rather than just having some measly options, you know, have people get something "back" from increased prices beyond a "discount" on runecoins purchases ;)

I have a monthly recurring membership which is "paused" as I bought the gold membership package this year, would it be safe to say that when this package ends and my monthly recurring membership restarts, that it restarts at the same old rates?

"lol After reading through the swamp that is on the comments on the preceding pages, lets establish a baseline of points that we can all agree on".

Here are some points that I see most repeatedly but I didn't have the time to quote everyone:

1. Why shouldn't we buy premier? If you pay up front they have no incentive to get things right as they already have your money.

2. Players are the product, the game is not.

3. I have seen you evolve and change for the worse you adapted from everything that came after you and instead of focusing on what made Runescape good you brought in other mechanics and Features that no one asked for.

4. And I think we can all see through the mire, Clearly there is going to be a influx of players returning when the mobile app releases. You figure HEY - Lets increase the membership price, I am sorry I'm not buying it, you haven't shown yourself to be reliable when it comes to content updates or even respectable business practice.

5. I just don't see how you are ""planning on huge 2019" when you haven't even stuck to the 2018 plans. Please don't promise next year will be even more "awesome", as that will probably just be taxed back on us again. We are happy with the ninja team updates.

6. Another question is, does this mean we will actually be getting quality updates now? If mobile, solak and bank rework are not ready yet, stop other "mini updates" and I do not mean to stop the ninja patches, they are doing a great job and we love that. redirect employees in greater groups to focus on main updates if there are not enough employees, stop low priority updates, redirect/regroup employees and quality over quantity.

7. We NEED a better explanation than "we've got great things planned" if you wan't to keep us invested.

8. I just don't see how you are "planning on huge 2019" when you haven't
even stuck to the 2018 plans. Maybe since 2017 with "rs mobile release at December".

So I've been a loyal player of this game for many consecutive years (and don't currently have any plans for changing that). But even I'm concerned about this price increase. I remember being told that micro transactions would help keep the cost of membership down, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I'm also concerned that so many updates getting canceled or delayed as well. When you combine those with price increases, what does that say about the future we can expect of the game? This last fall, I got a new phone expecting to play runescape mobile on it, but even that hasn't been released yet. And to make it worse, the cost is almost to where warcraft is: A game that hasn't changed its price in over a decade and can release content on a reliable timetable (Legion had a major content patch every 77 days apart). Runescape can't command that kind of development cycle, but thinks it should be allowed to charge those kinds of prices? I think this is a mistake.

Also, please release runescape on mobile soon! I really want to play or on my phone.

9. Updates are promised but then cancelled and never delivered, or severely delayed, then when and if released are often very disappointing.

10. Stop MXT and TH, it kills the meaning
from competing for hiscores and the majority of players don't want it.

What about gold premier auras? auras that wont be affordable in the future? stop pay2win.

11. Stop promising bank rework, runescape mobile, solak, smithing rework (we got the fishing update first than smithing) are there more persons working on other projects like fishing than the main projects with high priority?
Stop mini updates, or different updates.

12. Stop crater events like spring fayre/beach/novtumber/dailscape?

13. Stop forcing players to play at the lowest months of the year, yea 3 months per year with double xp.. you know that most people play on vacations.

You are not giving minimal allowance to leave temporarily the game.
What about all the players that study and work? or just study or just work?
We can keep up playing on vacations but you want us to pay for not playing?

14. Stop increasing overpriced months/years.
making it cost even more will only encourage me to spend even longer stretches
of time without membership to squeeze the most out of the increasingly overpriced months.

15. Stop throwing up updates every week. Less employees on different projects, same employees in less projects would work better and faster and I mean main projects with high priority. Please don't say you need more personal because you are delivering more content, that would be false.

16. I see many people that in protest might skip a premier year membership.

17. I thought you were trying to gain new members? not starting to hook players with 6-12 year premier membership and now end up with this.

18. I don't see the payout for paying $131 for a game that continuously introduces content that the vast majority of players don't agree with whilst pushing voted on and promised content to the side.

19. With the same amount that we've spent on this game I can now get a subscription and play almost every game ever created and to be created for the rest of my existence.
My money gives me more in Steam.. MGS5, Witcher 3, Call of dutty, Aoe2, GTA5, Rocket League, Portal2, NFS, L4D, Rainbow SS.

20. This is a final line for me, it's been a great 15 years I've spent on this game through different accounts, but you're kidding yourself if you believe this is worth $131 a year.

21. I love Runescape, and I pay what I can afford. As long prices are reasonable
how are you getting more old members to come back with this?

22. Is it possible to get a refund of mine active 12 years membership gold package? At least for the remaining months 2018? +1

23. If the Membership was 4.99€ like it was in the past, I would buy it for me and i bet many of my friends would also buy it...
With that price ? NEVER.

24. ...you've had record profits every year for what? the past 5 or so years? could you PLEASE explain why u need price increases on everything when your last years profit was 75 MILLION. and the key word there is profit that's after u paid your employees paid development costs, everything. so NO you do not "need" a price increase to develop stuff that is a clear and blatant lie which just insults the intelligence of everyone reading it.

25. MTX & F2P

-Or-

Membership & No MTX.

26. I remember the days it was under £5 a month. what is the need for this rise most people have played runescape over other pay to play MMORPGs because this is cheaper. now its relatively more expensive then others. over the years you'v only worsened the game and put in more buyable options. what are we getting for this price rise?

Few and fewer players..means cost rise for those left behind playing.

I love how everyone ignores the fact that if you keep your subscription active (with a 14 day grace period), the price remains the same.

Look, businesses need to do what businesses need to do. They have a reason for the price increase and that's part of the business plan. As a business owner, you can't be upset. Yes, it's a game for the people but yes they need to make profits as well as have funding for new game updates etc.

Stop complaining and play the game, or complain and don't. Jeez.

I genuinely posted twice (now three times) only on this thread not because I am too ignorant to know about or mention my lower rate, but because of other people, people who are less fortunate than me that don't have it.

Businesses exist because of customers, and if its too expensive eventually people just wont play anymore (most of my friends have quit and not many new people are coming in). If nobody plays the game anymore, then who would I gloat to? :P

You sound like you're complaining about other people complaining, which is still complaining

27. Don't be surprised when your paying $18 usd a month in 5 yrs, this company has dividends to pay and wall street are the ones making money off you, yes you are now seen as a dollar symbol not an actual customer/ person/ supporter for this game. What did us the player base expect from jagex selling their game by an investor.

I paid jagex in advance... what i was thinking?

28. For what we pay for, we should get maybe 2-6 quests a year, and hot/ninja fixes, graphics and focus on main updates like bank rework, mobile, solak, smithing/mining. That's about it. We rent getting enough for what we pay for: we get other stuff like butterflies, fayries, etc.
what a great April fools joke.

29. You just did put django and changed the way loadouts work in the bank and called it ourbank update. STILL NEVER GAVE PLACEHOLDERS.

30. What about 5$ or 7$ a month and full worlds of 2000 each and make more worlds instead of less worlds everytime.

31. What about f2p? "i can barely make enough on f2p to buy a bond and now it cost more? its like they don't care about f2p at all. such a let down".

Last but not least..

The impact of the price change won't be fully seen until 2019 Gold Premier comes along.

Really? Jagex needs more money, and they still haven't released RS Mobile or done anything else noteable to justify the jump in price? And on top of that, the price isn't locked in for Premier Club subscribers? Come on, that's pretty lame...
