If this means less MTX add-ons to the game, then I support.

Since it most likely doesn't mean that, well then I guess we are going more downhill and at a faster rate than expected.

RIP RuneScape.

I have actually spent the last 3 years as a market analyst, thanks to a expensive business degree. and I can tell you right now that this company is an Analysts nightmare or wet dream depending on how they do this.

They lost the majority of there consumer base already, the idea is TO NOT Keep putting up walls or blocks to prevent people from playing or returning and in turn not paying for your game. But to make your game as Valuable to the consumer as possible to keep returning players and new players alike staying, paying and playing.

What I see is returning players, and new players being forced out through price hikes, Mods with power complexes, Broken Promises, Unfinished Or Lack luster content, or just plain stupid business decisions.

Bringing the price Lower would only have positive benefits considering the profitability of the game in its current form, With its current player base.

There has been nothing that has been a consumer friendly idea from jagex in a long time, and for the record everyone claiming its inflation and they have to pay for wages. The PROFITS of a company when a financial report for the year is generated are after all those costs are accounted for.

if a company continues to make more and MORE money every year profit wise without putting anything back into the game or company (Updates, Game content, Services, it shows one of two things)

They are simply Lining investor pockets
Or
They are lining there own Pockets
OR BOTH

I have seen nothing That costs £74.4 Million In this Game - No your mobile port Does not count - not even close

Then again if I had a look at Phil Mansell's Paycheck id feel like I would have my answer

Do not forget guys Andrew and Paul Left in 2011 - Notice What happened after there departure.

There is something wrong here and anyone with a brain and simple understanding of how companies function will see somethings not right.

Then again what do I know?

I feel like they care more about money than anything else anymore.

I remember when RuneScape was about the community, now it just pretends to care.

This wouldn't be so bad, if you guys didn't try to squeeze every last penny from the playerbase by having membership, cosmetic MTX and P2W MTX all at once. Let's be honest, as long as you have all the MTX in the game, you don't need to increase the membership costs. Respectively, if you removed TH, this would be understandable. > )

Support.

Runescape membership now costs more/month than Final Fantasy 11 subscription, a game that continues to turn a profit 16 years after release despite a present playerbase smaller than RS3's and no microtransactions.

You're $11/month OVER the price of Free to Play MMO's, with a comparable amount of microtransactions.

You're just $4/month below the price of leading MMO's like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14, games that have far fewer microtransactions, much, much higher production value, and arguably a better record of actually delivering large updates on time and on quality in recent memory. At the present rate of increase, you'll be even with them price-wise in two to four years.

I just fail to see how increasing subscription costs AND pushing MTX harder and harder (while also making said MTX more expensive) is viable long term given the competition in the field? The practice is not only anti-consumer, but imo Runescape does not have the quality of content or content release to charge premium-game subscription amounts while also pushing MTX as hard as a truly free to play or buy to play game.

If this heralded a permanent cutback in MTX focus, I'd be all for it. But it won't.

Another question is, does this mean we will actually be getting quality updates now?

1. This is how every business operates, or else they do not stay a business.
2. Glad we agree
3. Perhaps his whining is him spitting truth you do not want to hear.
4. No. Let me reiterate.. No. You would be correct if you meant to type disapproval ratings.
5. Also glad we agree

M/S rework was planned to be released in September of 2016 if I remember correctly

1. Where's this game content then? Dying to know.
3. It's truth for sure, just kinda sad he's gotta announce his disapproval every mtx update.
4. Believe what you want I guess? Assuming you're anything but a conservative I suppose you types would. (Also bringing politics into a discussion where it has no basis to be.)
