anyone think that we should try and get another game company to buy jagex?

I'm thinking valve.

I have no experience in the gaming industry and even I know better than to acquire Jagex. Hence why a mining company is a realistic buyer .

I don't think any game company would match the $300,000,000 on offer. That's a lot of money and, frankly, a lot more than the company and portfolio of games is worth (and that concerns me).

I am personally feeling neutral somewhat (it's too early for me to personally think it will result in anything at all)

but if anything, hopefully it'll bring out new blood/players from the East (China, Korea, southeast Asia, etc.)

Ppl from those countries are really into grindy mmorpgs, and are generally attracted to anything genuinely made in the West/anything western

edit: I found the above to be funny somewhat. It sounds a lot like the policies of many western countries (with their declining native/established population) regarding immigration from developing countries (how many western countries can fund their policies from immigration and capital brought by new residents to replace the declining natives)

It's funny that we've had to follow the same immigration policy to hopefully bring in some new life to this game. Of course, it could potentially bring the bad side as well (third party RWTs, account trading, etc.), but hopefully the positive side of this 'immigration policy' will mitigate the negative side

Bring back Pre-Eoc combat as it was in 2k12 into RS3 if you want to increase your player base.

Legacy mode, also not relevant to this topic.
I've gone from an activity player to an inactive player.

the reason of players dont want new investors and changes:
1. Afraid runescape will have bad changes like rs3
2. The terms' buy' is too negative, jagex shall prefer proxy agent cooperation like league of legends, open chinese server that wont affect western players.
3. Players are very curious on why an mining company wants to develop irrelevant business (gaming business), this boss of them is a fans like me?
4. The marketing and promotion skills of jagex are always bad, players are very worry about this develop plan( funorb is the example)
5. players want to look the minutes of meetings between jagex and china investors, will there have any unfair or weird points
6. need more details on how to solve the translation and promotion problems : finding suitable proxy agent like garena (proxy agent of league of legends in Taiwan), how to have promotion on China gaming forums and magazine advertisement

I feel like they're done worrying about expanding / growing the player base and more concerned with milking players dry, a classic pump and dump. They're done with us and this game, it's just a matter of how much money they can make and anything they have to step on to get that money, they will.

Sure it's all business and money, but this is a large community. You take that into consideration, not just money. A community can sustain and grow and give you that money and then some over time. I'm just sick of how they treat this community.

There are many ways to get the money they need and want, but this company consistently chooses the lowest, dirtiest, cheapest way to sell out the integrity of this game and its players for a quick buck.
"Why are you posting threads, asking questions and making discussion???"

I unfortunately have to agree. This game has a meant a lot to me, and to many people, for many years, and I have seen it go through many changes that the community did not want and did not ask for. Of course, there are times when they have listened, and there are times when show us that they care, but honestly, with this news, it feels like they care more about money than they do their community.

I really don't trust that "business will go on as usual". I don't trust that firm, which seems to not even have any valid recent experience in video game management.... Seriously... why is an ORE MINING company interested in runescape, and why is Jagex interested in talks with them? To me, it seems like Jagex is just selling out. It breaks my heart to see this even in the news feed.

I understand Jagex may be looking for new opportunities and to expand, but in my opinion, this is really not how it should be done.

Granted, I don't know all the details. Only what I've read in news articles and from some posts here, so take my words with a grain of salt

I hope, at the very least, I'll be able to voice my opinion here, without fear of retaliation by moderation.

With the asian market coming into play , there will be plenty of bonds for you to buy.. Along with all sorts of other goodies like tier 100 weapons to spend them on.. LOL

Oh Gawd, it sounds like a nightmare! lol. Like I stated earlier, I will NOT be paying for membership if the company is sold to a Chinese company. I just hope you didn't hurt your jaw when you lol'ed so loudly ;)

Their financial report is not due until September (they've often released it early). Cut and paste from the Companies House website: Next accounts made up to 31 December 2015 due by 30 September 2016

I know that but their annual return is due in April, not tax return. This is what Mod Pips may be taking about when he gave this reply on the first page: Original message details are unavailable.

we expect by the end of April there will be more information on how things are progressing - but please remember that predicting timelines for these things is always difficult, especially when there are numerous regulatory obligations to fulfil along the way.
