Crazy! ^-^

People need to remember the term 'Investor'.
Everyone seems to jump to conclusions of negativity when really, this could be the boost Jagex need to really get the cogs turning and the updates churning.

The future is bright, I just hope Jagex remember to wear their sunglasses.

An investor owns some shares. If they're actually buying 100% of the shares, they absolutely control the company and can change it however they please.

I hope all these negative comments are enough to ward off this deal.

Pfft! The investors who own Jagex don't give a rat's rump for the opinions of the players.
Particularly when the opinions are formed on the basis of virtually zero knowledge.
Runescape is merely another acquisition in a portfolio.

You're right but a company that doesn't value their customers will surely fail. That you can be certain of.

It wouldn't matter how many existing customers quit. They'd be replaced 10 times over when the Asian market opens up.

3. What is meant by the term"acquisition"? Would ownership of the company change, or is it essentially an opportunity for expanding into an additional market, with marketing opportunities and potential player-base expansions?

In this case the acquisition would mean that there would be a change in ownership. Jagex would be owned by Shandong Hongda.

I feel super uneasy about this potential move. Unfortunately, only time will tell what this means and how much it will impact Jagex and most certainly how it will impact the game and community.

Trying to hope for the best...

Asian market is a different kind of market, their games are much different compared to what we have in RS. The asian crowd is massive and they are heavily invested in esports, mobas or games that are heavily influenced with Asian culture, not to mention the heavy pay to win model thats popular in Asia. You would either have to radically change RS to make it likable in Asia and kill several existing players OR abandon RS to make the kind of MMOs that are popular in Asia. Either way its my personal opinion that it's not going to work.

Please elaborate on this because if this goes south and you change oldschool to a pay-to-win I WILL cancel my 10+ years of membership and quit. I won't look back.

Your current membership streak is just 5 years buddy :P

With my first accounts started in 2002/2003 I have over 10 years combined.
10+ year RS veteran; Oldschool RS player.
