If you were to buy VIP membership, it would hold your current subscription where it is until the VIP membership ran out at the end of the 3/6/12 months (depending on which VIP package), then revert back to your current subscription. So, you wouldn't lose any membership time by buying VIP membership in addition to the subscription you currently have, if you chose to do that.

If you wanted to try cancelling your current subscription before buying the VIP membership, though, the Cancellations and Refunds wiki page might be helpful. :)
