This is going to be an interesting experiment that will either work beautifully or fail spectacularly. As this is quite new, and I cannot think of another game where this sort of thing has been implemented (if someone knows of one, please point me in that direction; I'd like to have some sort of barometer on which to base a critical analysis), I will reamain measured and reserved on this until more data becomes available.
In the interim, one possible side effect does raise a small bit of concern with me. Hypothetically speaking (because I know how much you guys
love
these types of questions), what's to stop goldfarmers from going all-in and flooding the markets (be it through sale or just giving away) with their stock of gold purely out of spite? One last (or continuing, depending on how aggrieved they may be) hurrah, if you will. One law of the land that I've come to understand through the years is that if you attempt to take away the means by which someone earns their living, you should be prepared for that person (or persons) to react desperately and, often, unexpectedly.
Food for thought.
