So... whether or not jagex will admit it they have officially given their players a "monetary" value for their runescape items.

so if hypothetically Bob hacks me by keylogging my computer then steals 100m worth of runescape items Bob would have officially committed theft because there is now an official exchange rate for runescape items to real world cash.

(£3 / the market price of the bonds. for the sake of this argument we'll use 6M rsgp as it's a nice round figure of 50p per mil.)

Bob has now stolen £50 worth of my items.

now that Bob has broken real world laws shall you, jagex, be referring this to the police?

as far as I can see that's where this update has taken the matter of hacking.

I'm really wondering how things are gonna unfold after this update...

Wonder how much these bonds will actually be worth...

And tbh I would rather have the money that goes to gold farmers be directed straight to Jagex and then back into this game... But I also don't want a situation where people will be able to easily buy their way to success with this update.

I will have to wait and see I think, to know how things will turn out... Good to hear that they are still actively attempting to tackle this problem and bring the bots down for good though... :)

A clear, accesible survey should suffice to settle this. Like the Free trade and OSRS surveys. If we vote no, it goes, if we vote yes, it stays. The year of the player right?

This certainly is the year of the players and we believe bonds only further deliver on this. Players choose whether they wish to purchase bonds and what they exchange the bonds for (either through player to player trades or on the Grand Exchange) in the same way as any other item. It is the community that will determine what bonds are truly worth. (Indeed, some players may even choose to use bonds as a method of gifting their friends membership benefits).

The decision regarding the introduction of bonds was made without any vote for several reasons including how critical it is to the long term health of the game and the safety of it's players. In addition, if any warning had been given to goldfarmers we could have seen all of their wealth being dumped into the economy ahead of the introduction of bonds.

Runescape just went Pay to Win.

Thanks JAGEX, for being greedy and then saying "It get's rid of bots."

God, I am disappointed.

RuneScape is not going to be pay-to-win. Having good items without having invested the time into knowing how to use them effectively will still leave you at a disadvantage.

Bonds do not instantly increase your XP and skills. Everyone has to put in time and effort to progress their account and earn XP.

Just like everybody else... people have to put time and effort... however:

You've just cut out the time required for earning the resources needed to progress an account and gain XP from bought resources if a player is prepared to 'pay' for a bond to exchange it for gold. This devalues the time put in by players who cannot afford to do so or refuse to do so.

Is this not going to put the back up on another part of your playing community?

You are not this stupid nor a mindless drone... so please stop treating us like we're 5 year olds with this strange company planned spin and just be honest about it :)

The way I see it, gold farming isn't very common anymore, except perhaps between friends or such, which I don't see as a problem.
Either way, AS LONG AS THE PROFITS ON YOUR END GO INTO THE GAME I'm fine with it.
I can now buy my friend membership for his online wealth.

that's the best way to use a bond, but what about the rest of the community? they can sell bonds for jacked up prices, and it wont discourage gold farmers or botters one bit.

it's good for friends and clanmates, but that's just it....
