But it's still a loophole that people can exploit and since people can exploit it some will. If that was the true root of the problem I think Jagex would have cleaned up alching a long time ago.

Alching by a normal player is not a problem, botting by huge numbers of goldfarmers who are not using the gp for their own accounts but instead selling the gp is a problem.

The problem is not alching, but botting and selling the gp is a problem. It creates vast amounts of gold which should not exist in the game and which is not legitimately obtained or earned through play as it should be.

On the video they have claimed theyve basically removed the bots, so they are now fixing a problem that doesn't even exist anymore....

Mod MMG,

Many of us players have been playing and enjoying this game since the early 2000's. Spending YEARS of ingame time with friends and playing the content.

If the Runescape servers ever "Go Down" will there be a way for people to still get on and play?

If we could get an answer to this it would be great.

Thanks,
~mac

We may be missing the big picture here...
Perhaps Jagex wants the gold farmers to buy these Bonds so they can be targeted better? It's plausible to think that Jagex has actually come up with a good (but poorly disguised) plan to target and hurt the Real-World traders.

On the other hand, this is looking to be an elaborate scheme to increase their profit margin by having Real-World Traders also buy directly from Jagex; thus making Real-World Trading acceptable by Jagex so long as they're making profit.
If we take a look at the last few controversial updates (Squeal of Fortune, Solomon's General Store, Bonds) it would appear (to me anyway) that Jagex is endeavoring to expand their profit margin via taking "illegal" (as defined by Jagex) activities created/exacerbated by players and making it nearly impossible to attempt in-game, then implementing a system that the player(s) can use that will profit Jagex in some form (example: gambling & the Squeal of Fortune).

I believe it would help if you clarify how botting is still a problem, doesnt the game now have the capability to detect it? if it cant detect then improve it. The way jagex handling this problem right now, almost 90% if not more of the players will think jagex just wants a new easy way to make money, without providing the game content that we actually want to pay for. and lol there is a tax of 10%, and the bond only gives 14 days of membership when the price of the bond is the same as 30 days of membership (for loyal members such as myself).

Jagex claims to have removed approximately 90% of the bots, but it is an ongoing battle. 10% of 1.1 million is still 110,000 bots in game, and if Jagex stopped trying to improve detection and banning the number would grow quickly.

Well there is your problem right there. The root of the problem is that alching can be used like that. What if you just hire 100 real people to play the game and alch all day? The problem would still exist, because at the heart of it alching can be used like that.

lol soon party hats will be sold in bonds, and how is that not real world trading?

you saying those veterans with party hats worked hard for their party hats? I guess some had to work hard, but most of them just got lucky and picked it off the floor of the game, lol wow some accomplishments.

I'm really concerned for OSRS right now.

Adding these bonds into OSRS would cause a mass of rage from the community but what other options do we have for OSRS? How do we stop the same problem that's happening in OSRS? All of the bots will move over to OSRS because the bot detection is somewhat lower-tech (I assume) and they can basically do the same thing in that game that they've been doing in RS3 there, instead.

What can you do to stop the bots and gold farmers in OSRS? ReCaptcha random events in-game? Better bot detection? :(

P.S. Please don't add bonds into OSRS.
