This might be a stupid question but why do DDosers do it? is it like hacking the game to give themselves items or something?
I think some people must do it our of boredom, or because they wan'* to prove they can do it. Much like people who create viruses I guess...
I must say I've never met a DDOSer before, so I don't know

So the sole purpose is to make everyone lag and disconnect? ...that's mean :'(

On a MMO I actually met one once. There were PvP fights in there and the ranking from the pvp (k/*-wise) would increase your overall ranking, which would also increase your capabilities in the game. This guy DDoSed the ones he fought against to always end up as the victor. It was easy to track down IP's on that game, but it ended up as dead content due security issues. Anyway for him it was to win.

A girl that I know had a friend that often DDoSed servers when he lost as a rage attack. To bad we most likely have these kind of peoples aswell in our community.. legal actions can be taken against those and they don't even realise what they are doing usually. Hope they will learn it the hard way though.

Have been DDoS'd in the past aswell with my MC servers so I know what it feels like. I wasn't able to get solutions apart from switching servers.. limiting data per player for each day wasn't working either, but good luck on this.

Hate how a small percentage of those immature ****** tend to ruin it for everyone. Especially for those that lost heap amounts of wealth due dc's. I might break more than alcohol can repair.

Do standard virus scans reveal the malicious software they use on people's computers to do this?

Usually not.

Just make sure to not download illegal stuff and you won't be a victem of malicious software I might break more than alcohol can repair.
