We are currently in the process of removing inactive display names. The process can take some time, as we are performing this action on tens of millions of names. Before the first batch of names has been released, we will make you aware of the release by way of a news post.

I would encourage you not to worry about the release too much as we do plan to give you a reasonable notice period before we release. Naturally I cannot go into detail on dates because we're still in the process of removing the names, but when we have more information, we'll let you know.

Thanks, how many names are you planning to release per batch? And will they be alphabetically as you seem to be releasing them now?

Sorry but I disagree. Loyal players who still play this game more than 14 years after release should be rewarded for their continued loyalty. Rather than people creating an account 8 years ago and never coming back since. I'm all for this update and it will be one of the best updates Jagex have given to the loyal playerbase that still remain in a while, imo. Please bring back Agents of Fury in some format Jagex!

I agree with that, there have been players that have probably quit more than 6 years ago fully. People who have grown out of the game or moved on to something else. Its not fair that there names are dorment and if they did really care about there names, atleast Jagex sent them an Email and gave them a week to decide. So no ones in the wrong here. If those players want there names they would log in, if they dont then Jagex did give them a week. I cant wait for this, i think this is a great update i'm way to excited though! Hehe!
