I suppose the players who made new accounts for old school just have to log in once and a while on their old name for runescape 3 to keep it should they later decide to come back and give legacy a try out.
Having said that and knowing how people often not play for a while, I wonder if you need to set a longer inactive period. Also Don't release a list of available names!!!
My eldest daughter hadn't played for years as she couldn't afford membership at the time, and didn't want to play as free as her bank was full at the time. However she finally was able to buy some membership and has got into playing again with help from me, as so much had changed since she last played.
It would have been a shame for her to lose her name, as its one she often uses, and we all know her as that, if she hadn't already started playing again.
Also what happens if my other childrens names are made available and some one decides to use it, as all my kids names are on my friends list. Would suddenly it seem like they had logged in again out of the blue? And I find I am talking to someone I don't even know? Or would their name change not affect my friends list at all.
I have people I made friends with years ago, who suddenly return and message me, because I am on their friends list and they not played in years, but remember me, and I help them get used to the new runescape..
Just wondered how people taking an old name would affect people who had the old person on their friends list still.
