Its in the FAQ question 19:

19. What happens if I lost my phone?

If you have lost your phone, please log into your account on a trusted PC and disable via your account settings (the authenticator tab will replace the current JAG tab in your settings. If you have lost your phone and do not have a trusted device, log into your PC and simply click on the ‘disable authenticator’ link on the login page and an email will be sent to your registered email containing a link to disable the authenticator.

Jag would be a whole lot less necessary if authenticator was needed to change email. My fear is and will always be that the preferred method to take accounts is via email.

Also I want to be able to set a time out on authenticator in my account settings.

I want to be able to set 1-30 days. This way if email is taken a hacker cant just disable it.

Honestly as long as authenticator can be so easily turned off its useless as a security measure.

Yes 2 step email is nice. Look at all the players complaining about lack of phones. We know they don't have it.

I do yet many friends have a desire for similar security to Jag. I guess my friends are in the small minority who use it. They have voiced concern that it does not offer the same security Jag does. I understand. To me allowing player to set a time delay before authenticator can be removed and protect changes to email and ******** until that time has pass can only be a good thing.

Jagex could also add terms to setting authenticator so if you set a time frame for deactivation than you have to wait it out. This way players would know that emails to turn off authenticator or to bypass the wait period will be ignored. As it would be player set. The authenticator time out would be similar to ban pin in the wait becomes the players responsiblity. Players who dont like the idea and feel their email is secure or offers the 2 step identification could simply set pin reset time to zero. Which would mean the change I suggest would have no effect on them. Mr. Simax

hello my name is rubberfac3, and people always scam at dueling arena no matter what because i win alot of money, i won my first 11 duels for all my money by 1hp legitly and even rules and all these people like a dude named lecan***ur70 has glitched stats his stast dont show up and so on also ive lost 150milion when ihad 24hp and a dude had 3hp and we both shot a crossbow bolt and i hit a 76xp hit and thats like a 14-16 and i lost because i had hp and he had 0 hp clearly, he hit a 23 on my 24hp and i died with that and was not poisoned, also when i get up to 20-40mil people start runnin in my way and people will only scam so i cannot use my weapon. They wont stop bothering me until they scam me for my money. Theres alot of times wheere i should of killed their character and lost because their buddys get in their way for them so i cannot hit them.. i think that i should be treated even and respected for my hard time and work and my great attitude like when i give away alot of free money and free items. The people in this game and cheating people so that they can sell their money to rpgstash.*** where they buy 11mil gold for 20 dollers i hear people talking about it all the time and they are stealing peoples money which should be illegal to the game or fixed by a machine. People should take in to consideration of peoples kindness. I could easliy have over 1 billion gp on this game easliy from all my wins without losses and how i staked it with my skill, and won it fair and square by alot of 1hp wins. I am never respected or anything. If there was jagex mods at the dueling arena that would be better. I could have had a few 99 skills by now with what i earned and got cheated for and have alottt more to come and in my bank, i deserve a better chance of creating a better account, and there are people at the dueling arena bank taht have scammers in their clan and all they do is buy items and basically scam people for them because they got scammed for their money and

Apologies if this was mentioned earlier, but..

If someone was to obtain your log in details and you have Authenticator setup, they are pretty much locked out of getting into your game account which is great.
However, they can still log into the RuneScape website and get into your account settings, and modify details such as your character name, view other information about your account and make forum posts without having to enter any code first.

Would it be possible to make the Authenticator protect this area too?

Great work on bringing this kind of protection to RuneScape accounts though! :D .
