Jagex, I'm not going to say anything bad to you because this is an great idea, extra safety etc. but you have to realise that not all people have smartphone, were not rich.But I have 1 question:Why did you update the things that already are fine?

just keep jagex acound gardian running because otherwise you guys loose mut** money from members who gonna quit or gonna loose ther items because you guys make a mistake by putting up a stupid update that go's the wole wrong way

this is a huge mistake on the part of uncaring people at Jagex. For those without phones it is equivalent to offering their accounts to hackers. I ask why was this not mentioned previously and discussion allowed. I also ask what other purpose does this introduction have that is not being allowed in the public forum? The account guardian was working perfectly well and virtually everyone was happy with it as they knew it was coming and was not just forced upon us like this has been. Remember we pay you to provide a service not to act as controlling tryants. You are employed by us and yet you act as if we owe servitude to you. This was wrong in so many ways I cannot begin to list them. You want this to be the year of the player then involve the players don't dictate to them

So, you do not want to use your smartphone or you don't own one but you still want to protect your account using Authenticator? Then this is the way to go.

Step 1. Download WinAuth (or another Authenticator application)

"WinAuth is a portable, open-source Authenticator for Windows that provides a time-based RFC 6238 authenticator and common implementations, such as the Google Authenticator . WinAuth can be used with many Bitcoin trading websites as well as supporting [several games]."

Step 2. Logging in

On the RuneScape website, click on the "Account" button on the top right and log in. From there, you should notice a drop down menu called "Authenticator". Click that and click "Enable now".

Step 3. Setting up the Authenticator

Go straight to step 2 on the Authenticator page, and click on "Code won't scan?". You'll now get a custom code that's unique to your account. Copy that code and open WinAuth.
In Winauth, click on "Add" and pick " Google Authenticator ".
You can pick a name here for your Google Authenticator. Mine is my RSN, "Armoede", so I know which code belongs to which account. :)
Paste your custom code in the "Secret Code" section.
Click on "Verify Authenticator." You should now get another code.

Step 4. Finishing up

Copy the other code you got and paste it on the RuneScape Authenticator page under step 3.

Click on "Ok" in WinAuth. You're now asked to add a pass-word to your WinAuth. I suggest you make one.

Now, every time you open WinAuth, you'll be asked to fill in your WinAuth Pass. Every time you want to log in to the game, you can now hit the "Refresh" and you'll get a timed automated code required to log in to RuneScape.

and for i forget it if people lose ther phones or they got stolen and the limmiter of 30 days are off then other people can scann that code with ther phones to hack that players acound so this update isnt so smart at all :|

Well I have already downloaded the application authebticador but think ill remove the JAG because not everyone has the modern cell or continue with this program or should find a new alternative for those who have and continue to maintain security in the same, I have several friends who has so many possibilities to buy a cell of the new generation to be able to have that application but are now even more afraid of losing the account without getting JAG and without having to have the mobile application Athenticador

ps: could do a poll or something or find a new solution await response

this has not been thought through anywhere near enough. No information on whether the guardian will remain in force for a starter. I do not recall any collaboration with the members for this, no consideration for those who do not have an appropriate phone. All round this is very shoddy and very little care for the members/players as a whole***** Gerhard this is not managed well at all and smacks of dictatorship. But as usual nothing we members say will change the way the no carers at Jagex do things.

we should be given a choice between using jag and authienticator since not everyone can afford the correct phones to get the new security stuff.....can't force people to buy new phones if they don't have the money, will just make even more people quit playing.
