I agree with the idea of another level of security but removing JAG would leave many people without any form of extra security.

I cannot understand the logic in removing a system that has been working well and substituting it for this new system that only targets people with smartphones. Now unless Jagex will be integrating the authenticator features into a new version of JAG that allows you to use the existing system as well as the new system.

The JAG alternative should still be kept for people who dont have smartphones and the authenticator a alternative for those who have them and want their life a bit simpler. °ï¦ï° Ðuel (PvM) Forum °ï¦ï°

This. I found my Recovery Questions removed. How do I set new ones?

We removed the ability to set new Recovery Questions about 2 years ago when JAG was introduced. There were some interfaces that still mentioned them which we didn't change until today - these are now removed as well. Mod Rascasse

I own a home phone. That's why I don't even have protection for Paypal or email.

I now need to pay like *200 for an iPhone without service just to authenticate my account that's been perfectly protected by JAG for years? Why doesn't Jagex simply pay Blizzard to use their authenticate item that I bought from site? My Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft account have never been hacked.

Plus - will it even offer protection on Classic or Old School? Only PIN works for OS and nothing for RSC as I've seen thus far. I was in the hospital for 4 days and luckily my PIN for OS was set to 7 day force reset. I recovered it and changed pass and questions before hacker got in.

Before JAG we used alternate accounts to safe store items where nobody checks. Only been keylogged twice before JAG. Nothing since JAG other than someone guessing my pass most likely since it was shown on stream in the name field because I forgot to press TAB to move cursor down one line to pass entry.

Why remove a perfectly working system with JAG? Why force us to all buy cell phones? Just fix the current system to include RSC and OS.

Update: My dad owns a tablet. Does that work since it can download games from the Apple store? Other than that my mom owns a flip phone that has only numbers and no texting and such. Just lame we can't buy an authenticater from Jagex like we do from Blizzard.

Mod Rascasse has honestly given the absolute dumbest responses to concerned players that I have ever seen a moderator/developer/representative of a certain company ever give their concerned customers/player. Completely disregard the concerns, respond to the people asking questions already on your FAQ regarding authenticator... Nice.

Start with telling us WHY JAG is being removed in the first place, and then go on to explain why this felt mandatory to you people, to just toss JAG for a half-assed authenticator, essentially compromising a vast amount of your playerbases account security in the process.

JAG works, this authenticator is trash.

We all know you sure as hell wont reimburse players who end up with account breaches and hijacked items after this. You'll still somehow claim it their fault. ^-^

If you don’t have a smart phone, there are options available to you, so you’ll be able to get the code directly from your pc. Simply do an internet search for a suitable authentication software that you can download (such as WinAuth for windows PC’s). Ok... so I've done a search and downloaded WinAuth 3.0 like you've suggested, and there's an "add" button to put it on certain accounts. However, RuneScape/Jagex is NOT one of them. So how am I supposed to do this on a computer? Link me to something that works.
