It's nice to see the pre-nuke bot population discussed.

The bot population was truly enormous and dwarfed the actual player base. I remember playing on german servers just so that I could actually skill. Bot's literally swarmed every activity worth doing. It was horrible. Once they got banned I was amazed how empty worlds seemed. Then the forums went crazy with people saying that it was because all the "real" players left and that there were hardly any bots to begin with.

I had to wonder how many of those people had been living under a rock. The bots were an epidemic. Still I wouldn't be surprised if runescape lost 20% of its members due to eoc. Entire clans vacated, the death of PVP was short and brutal. However if the only way to end bots was eoc, then jagex made the right call. This game was drowing in bots and nothing puts people off playing a game more than being unable to train a skill because of bot swarms.

The male:female ratio might be off a bit, I know a few females who play IRL and always use male characters because they don't like being harassed.

The average age of accounts means very little in my opinion. I've played since 2001 always changing accounts and trying something new. Leaving a trail of abandoned accounts along the way. I know I'm not the only player to do this, so the average age of an account may well not indicate a new player base. It probably is correlated just not as much as one might initially think.

This just doesn't seem to reflect what we've actually seen.

Over the years since around 2007-2009 (particularly the ones since microtransactions ) we have dependably seen less content updates per month, particularly less quests, and even the removal of the memorable holiday events to cut costs.

Yes I know you want to make them all pretty , and voice acting in particular takes more effort, but this simply isn't acceptable. Look at how good 2007scape is doing with such a scrappy development team through sheer perseverance and love for what they're doing!

usualy i would just shout 'another PR stunt' here but, the facts are true

i saw a lot of oldies coming back wether it is to rs3 or oldschool, i saw a surprizing amount of new players coming in, i just question their lifespan, and the only bots i see are in 07scape

eoc did do a big hit, but i wonder what kind of hit did micro-transactions do? i mean, you are running a subscribtion based game with micros, that is a not a consumer-friendly business model
'new emotes and overrides now in solomons!' what happened to our loyalty point value?

So basically what I see in the last graph is that you lost almost all your veterans and are getting a huge amount of new players. That is great to know. I'm glad you care so MUCH about veterans. Do we not matter you you anymore?

I been playing since 2007. Members since 2010.

"And despite rumours that everyone in RuneScape is very rich, the truth is only 1% of players have over 1 Billion GP in total wealth."

So over 200 million accounts have been created. Is that 1% of those 200 million accounts? That means 2 million players have over 1 billion geepeee!

Hi I just wanted to say I am an International Business Major with a specialization in International Marketing and Wow your Data Is awesome possibly in the near future you can target more countries like Japan and China so they can get more involved. Jagex has done a lot in the last few years to increase its numbers. Maybe in the future Jagex can aim for this so we can have an even larger diversity of gamers and as well as having more content and having Runescape in many languages hopefully one being Japanese since I study it and its fun. :D
