With the momentum ability, Is EoC that much of an issue?

Yes it is, it's flawed for multi combat PvP for various reasons.

It's good for certain PvM, but what I fail to see is that the EoC wasn't needed to release the new bosses from this year, perhaps they will develop bosses which really needed these abilities. Momentum is good for slayer though.

Vorago needed EoC to survive. He takes EoC to the limits and if you mindlessly button mash you will not get passed 1st phase. You should give Jagex reasons on how to improve EoC rather than shout wahh wahh I hate it remove it

Why would I bother if Jagex doesn't read/use any feedback? I haven't seen a Jmod post in the EoC combat section for ages now.

And offering no feedback works? Anything about combat usually attracts Mod Dean. Just because they don't post on the thread does not mean they don't read it. Make a thread offering improvements then bump it passed the "wahhh wahhh EoC sucks remove it remove it" posts.

Good letter, good sentiment. But actions speak louder than words. As usual, a good chunk of the promises and sentiments you spoke of and promised to act out in last year's message to the community ended up being empty words. So it's hard for me to take this year's message seriously. It's easy to tell us what we want to hear, but what actually counts is acting on it.

I still enjoy RS, and I agree many good things have happened this year, I just want to make it clear there is still much more room for improvement, especially in the truthfulness, clarity, and openness of communication.

Merry Christmas. Here's to another year of RuneScape and hopefully some more steps in the right direction.

I'm not sure if you meant to say that the community is tighter because it is smaller. I can't say this was the best year for me personally as so many of my friends left the game due to that horrible EOC update which pretty much wrecked any enjoyment we had with pvp. I'm not sure how you managed to have a major update for a game resulting in so much dead content and under-populated worlds but if that was your plan for the year of the player then you succeeded.
I'm not sure why you think you listen to the players. Maybe you guys at JHQ have selective hearing idk.

Well Merry Xmas and let's hope your hearing get's better next year.

Highlights of 2013:

RuneFest Live Stream:
Unable to attend RuneFest in person, it was a great pleasure to be able to experience so much of RuneFest via the Live Stream. The Live Stream made me appreciate the Jmods so much more than I ever could have had I not been able to see the Live Stream, and see how much passion they have for the game and how they really want the players to enjoy their work. Having seen the true passion in the eyes of Mod Mark Ogilvie, and of Mod MMG and the other Jmods for the game, I really look at them differently now because I saw it in their eyes how much they care about the game, and that it is not just a paycheck for them.

The introduction of Bonds has made it possible for me to pay for membership through in game wealth. I was wondering if I could even afford to pay for membership this year because of hard financial times, and now not only do I have a full year of Gold Premier membership for this character, but also Bronze Premier membership on one of my other characters, all paid for through in game wealth I earned on each character separately and honestly via each character's skills.

I believe Bonds are a good thing. The demand for GP bought through real world wealth is met in a way which is far less damaging than bots are to the game's economy, and in a way that may benefit honest players who earn their GP through non combat skills or combat skills.

I have never seen the game with so few bots, and I applaud the Jagex team for conquering the bot epidemic, and for making the hard decision to introduce Bonds, which was clearly going to be controversial. By introducing Bonds instead of generating GP out of thin air, the game's economy is stimulated and benefitted rather than harmed.

I know to some there will always be a sense of unfairness that someone can buy in game wealth while others have to earn their in game wealth through game play, however the Bonds solution is far better than the alternative of allowing RWT to continue.

EOC:

What I think would possibly make EOC combat better would be not having eating food reduce adrenaline. I think this above all else is what makes PVP not work with EOC, because if anyone eats food they can no longer use anything but basic abilities, which means whoever eats first loses most fights.

I think there is too much focus on needing high end gear obtained only from boss monsters only a small fraction of players can effectively fight. This means players who do not boss fight or are not good at it pretty much have no access to the best weapons, because earning GP through non combat skills does not generate enough GP.

Player Owned Ports produces decent armour, but we need not just tanking armour but also agrresive damage producing armour, and we need weapons, weapons which do not come from boss monsters or Dungeoneering, or even just from Player Owned Ports though it woudl be good to be able to produce weapons from Ports, I want to see non combat skills be just as good at GP earning and making better gear as Boss fighting or Ports.

My goal in game is to earn GP through non combat skills such as smithing and crafting, this means I need to be able to make items I can trade and earn a profit from to compete with the GP someone can make from Boss monster drops.

Ranged was ruined for me by EOC. I can't make a crossbow through non combat skills any more which is suited to my level. Every crossbow above rune requires Dungeoneering (Boss fighting) Killing the Queen Black Dragon (Boss fighting), Killing Tormented demons (Boss fighting), Killing Ascension bosses (Boss fighting). Basically there is only one way to get high end gear, Boss Fighting. I want non combat skills to be able to make the best gear with no part of the gear coming from boss drops.

Every part of a Rune Crossbow could be made through non combat skills, and all the crossbow bolts could be made entirely through non combat skills. I want a high end crossbow I can make without doing combat.

Merry Christmas.

This message felt very fake, because regardless of what you write we can all see the dwindling player-base every day. Something needs to change, you can't afford to lose 90k players again this year.

I don't play the game anymore due to microtransactions. Many others dislike the eoc update. Maybe if some things were changed, and if some revenue was spent on advertising the game on sites such as Miniclip (with 4m+ unique visitors per day), we might see a revival of the game. Otherwise I do not see myself returning and the game simply cannot take another 90k player loss again this year.

The game is officially less popular than it was in 2004, before the release of RS2. It's looking bad MMG, don't hide that, change something.
:O
