Highlights of 2013:
RuneFest Live Stream:
Unable to attend RuneFest in person, it was a great pleasure to be able to experience so much of RuneFest via the Live Stream. The Live Stream made me appreciate the Jmods so much more than I ever could have had I not been able to see the Live Stream, and see how much passion they have for the game and how they really want the players to enjoy their work. Having seen the true passion in the eyes of Mod Mark Ogilvie, and of Mod MMG and the other Jmods for the game, I really look at them differently now because I saw it in their eyes how much they care about the game, and that it is not just a paycheck for them.
The introduction of Bonds has made it possible for me to pay for membership through in game wealth. I was wondering if I could even afford to pay for membership this year because of hard financial times, and now not only do I have a full year of Gold Premier membership for this character, but also Bronze Premier membership on one of my other characters, all paid for through in game wealth I earned on each character separately and honestly via each character's skills.
I believe Bonds are a good thing. The demand for GP bought through real world wealth is met in a way which is far less damaging than bots are to the game's economy, and in a way that may benefit honest players who earn their GP through non combat skills or combat skills.
I have never seen the game with so few bots, and I applaud the Jagex team for conquering the bot epidemic, and for making the hard decision to introduce Bonds, which was clearly going to be controversial. By introducing Bonds instead of generating GP out of thin air, the game's economy is stimulated and benefitted rather than harmed.
I know to some there will always be a sense of unfairness that someone can buy in game wealth while others have to earn their in game wealth through game play, however the Bonds solution is far better than the alternative of allowing RWT to continue.
