Valid point, but if Guthix is asleep, this cannot even happen because he would be in any form. But if Guthix is awake now, he would easily have the ability to stop it. It was stated that Guthix could do and/or create anything he wished, but he simply did not do so because he would not want to upset any balance. He would easily use his powers if to save his life and keep balance

The Butterfly is a symbol for transformation and metamophosis. The only things in runescape with the power of change are the Mahjarrat. The rarest Mahjarrat would be the one no one has seen. Kharshai is confirmed to already in game somewhere, but its not been confirmed who he is, Bilrach and Moia have both been seen in game but not personally met by the player. So the gods searching for the rarest butterfly could mean:

The gods will be searching for either Bilrach, Kharshai, or Moia, or any combination of the three.

And again considering the things guthix is capable of (stopping the godwars, making the other gods leave gielinor)even as a god it seems unlikely Nomad would have the power to kill guthix. And the dragonkin want jas dead not guthix

ah yes, jas enslaved them. ( i never did any grandmaster quests :p ) I do believe nomad could kill/wound guthix. somehow. let me check out the final cutscene*

I have not even done many majarret quests, i am getting all this information from wikia. And another idea no one thought of, Lucien! At end of ritual of the maharret, Lucien had been attacked, and most likely killed, but his body had dissapeared mysteriously, causing much suspicion.
