If your so mad about it, just make your own private server. If you don't choose to do that, then you just don't care enough about keeping the old fashioned combat. :| I on the other hand, love the update and can't wait for July 6th when I can try out the beta.

Played this for a good while last night, anywhere there are more than a few players the lag was so bad I had to tele elsewhere (it is a beta though) and Java crashed on several occasions.
The changes to gameplay are pretty severe hope Jagex don't try to introduce them all at once. spellcasting and prayer use was pretty confusing and I've no idea what the lifepoints bonus of armour will do for prices - I was pretty miffed that the Guthans set effect didn't work in the beta wondered if other Barrows is the same (or maybe just a bug or oversight).
On the whole seems like a good idea but not too much too soon Jagex PLEASE!

when I first stepped inside the beta portion of the game. I was like.... What are these ppl doing in my area? but as soon as i started fighting i fell in love with the system. However......
Pros:
1:The combat seems really fast & fluid, dual wielding is amazing.
2:I like how the adrenaline replaces the special.
3:I am really fond of is the Hp from armors add to your own - which is a brilliant IDEA! My HP IS OVER 9000!
Cons:
1: The combat system itself... too quick! If people were pvping there will be alot of quick easy deaths. Something needs to be done to balance this.
2: Monsters are hitting through protection prayers, but I know it is only beta.
3: The adrenaline fades too fast in between fights.
4:Armor Defence needs to be added to combat attacking skills.
Suggestions:
1:Slow adrenaline down from totally fading, it should drain slower, like when you rebuild run energy but with a drain.
2:An "Arts" skill should be added to the tree of skills, Cons, Def, Atk, Rng, Mag ect, part of the combat tree.
3:Add different types of arts to different weapons, some "special" weapons with an individualized Art like Staff of Light's Invulnerability or Dragon battle axe's "Rampage" But I think those should be left alone on the weapons as a bonus in terms of using some of the same usage as in the actual gameplay.
4: Re-work the defense vs attack or add vs agility (Atk +Agility vs Defence + Agility) or whatever formula you guys have.
5: Might be interesting to see a skill that dodges special skill attacks for a short period of time. Like "Premonition" skill to dodge half of the attacks.

I like it on a whole, everything i was going to say would be just regurgitating what the dude above me has said, that being said, i think that some of the NpC levels need looking at, I haven't killed one myself in beta but a friend went on against Kbd and got slaughtered, where as in the current cb he did it well.
i like the fluidity of it, the animation is gorgous, and it makes it alot more fun to kill in there.
i dont like, the fact that im gonna be maxed by the time it comes, i feel like i havent really acheived it, that the drenilin runs out so fast, that there is no clear indication (unless its fixed) what xp im actually gaining on screen is, and how clunky the interfaces have became, lastly, just the missing of specs =[
i embrace the change fully so should you =p

I agree with the last few posts: the adrenaline fades too quickly. Also after giving it some play time it reaffirmed that I really do not like the way the mage spells are laid out.
I'm not sure how I feel about this update. Some of it is pretty awesome but at the same time I do play RS for its simplicity. Had I wanted a more amp'ed up game I would have gone with WOW. I guess that just means I need to go play the beta some more.
