There is some definite room for improvement. Even in Bandos (armour) a lot of the abilities seemed overpowered. If all NPCs receive an LP boost, and greater defensive capabilities, the new player abilities might balance out. In the beta I was able to camp black demons without food or prayer, something I would have needed prayer for in "general runescape". Finding a setup for most monsters was pretty tedious. I'd spend more time trying to figure out what abilities to use and armour to wear than I would actually killing the NPCs. I like the "gap filling" of combat related levels, especially defense, but there still isn't much incentive to train defense, for most pkers anyway. Shielding abilities can definitely be useful, reflecting damage for instance, but there are still many other ways to achieve the same result without defense, prayer for example. Props to the Jagex staff who wrote the game code, my fps barely dropped, despite the new and numerous combat animations. The new stat system didn't work well for me. It was harder to see what made certain armour types better than others without previously knowing they were "better". The LP boosting, with regards to armour, made gearing up or switching from shield to offhand difficult because of the "max lp" fluctuations. A LP modifier, displaying total LP with armour bonuses would have been very helpful. The new keyboard involvement was sublime, but again, difficult to optimally setup with so many options.

I've been training slayer in my short time on the beta. It seems to me that all areas r multi-combat. Is this intentional? Also I noticed the living rock creatures many of them only had a few life points. This may be a mistake. Also my melee dragon armor had very little defense against range attacks seems like they should offer more protection, or is it that they would be consider low level armor now?

Well, having tried it out and I will work more with it, I have to say I am not at all enthused so far with the changes.
I also am not enthused that the equipment being LOANED to us by jagex is spead all over the ground in Lummy making it a free for all. Why people are trying to sell it and why they are alching something they cannot keep other than in the beta trial shows me just how much they skimmed the posts. Really impossible to get a full set of anything to put it through its paces to see what it does.
Biggest improvement is Mage. It is outstanding. The problem is the client like interface.
I loathe it. It is difficult to see as the screen is so small and having inventory and other things stacked in odd places makes it very difficult to play. Scrolling searching for spells while you are being killed as the spells are wily nily all over isn't my cup of tea. I prefer the web based screen with ease of access.
Ranged is great as well. The changes to it are definitely welcomed.
Melee I am most displeased with.
If I wanted to play WoW I'd play it and have a membership there.
I really find it very confusing the adrenaline bars etc. Also comparing bonus stats is very difficult as it is so different from what we have currently in game.
It took me 2 hours to get a full set of Torva which really, my time is more valuable than to be in an environment of Bridezilla at Macy's on clearance day for wedding gowns!
Seriously annoyed me trying to get the armour dropped on the ground with everyone trying to grab it and make a fortune they cannot keep or use. THAT needs to be changed. The stats comparisons between my Bandos and the Beta Torva was very disappointing. In action I may as well have been using Dragon. I do not like how the damage stats are configured. The change is so drastic I do not see people being able to cope. Everything inefficient.
The lag is crippling. The lack of a large enough screen is crippling.
Nothing is balanced.
Will work more with it later.

Some NPC's are many a times easy to kill. Revenents are really low level, and I killed them realy easily. Although I was wearing dragon full, and my weakness was magic, still there magic attacks were barely hitting me. Please check it.

Although update is really awesome, abilities rock! Please inform me if god wars dungeon is accessible in beta, as I really want to test my skills on different bosses. I tried but could not find the rock to climb after passing trolls.

Foam:veterans should have been the ones to get the beta
My thoughts exactly,i've been playing runescape since like 2003-2004 cant recall which exactly, and i wasent invited to try the beta, but yet i know people who have been playing 2months and got the invite.I'd think they should have given veterans priority over others since we know runescape more then anyone and we are the ones with the experience opposed to others who just started who are thinking oh cool its just like (insert other mmo here),But whatever, apparently jagex couldnt care less about the veterans who've put a good chunk of years into this game and they couldn't even guaranteed us a place in the beta, although odd how all the big video makers(no1s perfect, sparc mac,and silentc0re)all got invites..i expected such though.Oh well.
