I just realized that multiway combat is everywhere. This is very troubling indeed.
In fact, this is horrible: WE HAVE TO COMPETE FOR DROPS EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME, WITH EVERY MONSTER.
You might as well install dwarf multicanons all over the place and have them firing all the time.
Example:
Ever been happily ranging a black dragon and somebody runs in and plops a canon in the middle of the room? It effectively takes over all the dragons. Personally I despise multicanons, I think they immediately ruin any area in which they are set up. Worldwide multiway combat ruins EVERY area.
YOU WILL SPEND HOURS KILLING MONSTERS AND YOU MIGHT GET A FEW DROPS HERE AND THERE IF YOU'RE LUCKY.
It already happened to me in the first 5 minutes of beta play. I was killing Lumbridge goblins and did*’t get any drops. I figured that there just weren’t any drops in beta, until I learned the ugly truth:
WE NOW COMPETE FOR DROPS.
Scenario 1:
Grotworms. There are already so many players camped in grotworm area that I have to wait to attack one. With multiway combat, the level 200 (which Gleinor will now be overrun with) who can afford $200M of gear will get all the drops.
WE HAVE TO COMPETE FOR DROPS EVERYWHERE.
Scenario 2:
Dagganoths. (or any slayer task for that matter) Bye-bye drops. There WILL be a full Pernix –sporting level 200 in every world who will be getting ALL the drops.
IF YOU AREN'T LEVEL 200 WITH THE BEST GEAR YOU WILL NO LONGER GET MONSTER DROPS.
Scenario 3:
Glacors. Enough said.
The only 2 reasons I see for worldwide multiway combat is to cater to high level summoners who feel summoning was nerfed when taken out of the combat calculation. And to allow greater use of multi-target magic. Neither of these reasons justify this change.
Worldwide multiway combat is pointless and DE-evolves combat. Please do not change this aspect of the game.
