That was absolutely stunning.

Are they going to do a cover of Pink Floyd's Money for Yelp's theme?

Money, it's a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team.

^ then i'll buy me an investment team. *chuckle*

anyway. this sounds so great. I have got a couple of questions though.

1. Would there be any opportunities from the game community end for music projects in the future?

and

2. Does this mean you'll be getting rid of the MIDI music altogether? I mean the orchestrated score sounds excellent but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say there's nostalgia within the MIDI music, something like 'Newbie Melody' for example.

would there be a chance in the RS3 Client to download the old Midi Music files and import them into the RS3 Client somehow?

The new music sounds epic and I can not wait to hear more of it this summer.

I'll be renewing my membership sometime this month as it ends next month on the 4th at 22:47 GMT I think.

Ohhh man oh man I can hardly wait for this update to come.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this video a 900T+ (Trillion) of AWESOMENESS!!!!!

I can't say live music isn't great, because it is, and it's certainly a talent I do not possess.
But look at it like this:
How long have humans been playing instruments to make music and gathering to play together for astounding performances(~3000 BC), and how long has midi music been around (~1980)?
For someone to make digital noises sound like this ['07 login screen], that does deserve some true recognition also.

Congrats with moving Runescape into the future, I'm highly looking forward to RS3 and NIS!

Jagex should change football to gnomeball and it works great! :D

Have fun with everything you do and good luck with your goals!

The music sounds terrific. Only one thing do I want to point out: For years, many of us have indeed grown quite attached to the RuneScape music, including me - indeed, RuneScape music has actually made it onto my iPod in the past. But in the grand, majestic reworking of the main theme that you show during the second half of the video, I can't help but notice you've edited some of the rhythms, particularly in the first large brass theme. With songs that are so near and dear to many of our hearts, I ask that you preserve the rhythms. It's true that the music deserved a massive update, but I don't want to see the actual rhythms and melodies of the songs change. Think back, fellow players, to the first time you heard the track Adventure in-game. It was bold, it was exciting! I felt envigorated. I want that excitement to translate over when we see these new tracks hit the game. Let's not change the actual rhythms. I got nervous when those speaking in the video started talking about how skilled this composer that you have working on the project is. In all reality, we shouldn't need a new big-name composer, because we should be playing the songs faithfully as they were composed. As you have it arranged in the video, the rhythm of the primary melodic line of the main RuneScape theme is different than how it's been for years. I ask that you not make such grand departures from tradition.

Will this be a few of the songs or more? Or maybe all of them? :o

From the IGN article which also has purportedly leaked the new skill name: "Additionally the audio has been redone, with the team hoping there won't be a single MIDI file left once the updated version launches."

As a university composition student and aspiring game composer, I am very glad to see RuneScape getting an orchestral score, although also somewhat sad to see the old MIDI style disappearing. Hopefully RuneScape 3 will help to make the music fit the game, as some of the older-looking areas would feel strange with a full orchestral score.

I'm interested to see what sort of music James Hannigan can bring to the game, although I take it he is not becoming a primary composer for the game.

I'll have to convince some of my friends to actually start playing the game with the sound on! On that note, I do hope the sound effects will get an overhaul as well, so as to complement the visual and musical audio.
