If nothing else this signifies that RuneScape is a popular enough game to be worth creating massive quantities of bots for. Not ever MMORPG can say that. The fact that we have such a problem with bots shows that there are still enough legitimate players for the bot-makers to market to. Even among 'legitimate' accounts, only some percentage less than 100 actually use bots or RWT. So despite everything, RuneScape is a good enough game to keep large numbers of people playing by the rules - I for one am proud to be able to truthfully say everything I have accomplished with this account was done the old-fashioned way, with millions upon millions of by hand mouse clicks ;)
On the other hand, chances are that the much anticipated 200 millionth account will be an automatically generated gold farming account that no human will ever actually play on. Jagex and it's overseas ownership should think long and hard about how they wish to react to that unhappy fact.

"A question (kinda related):
Did the community, at least forum-wise, use to be this toxic? Or is this all result of the SoF scam and glorifying bots and RWT?
I'm honestly curious, for all the years I've played I've never been much of a forumer, until after the SoF (I had this silly notion that Jagex actually gave a damn about what its customers wanted, so I tried the forums)."

You know, I wonder that myself. I rarely used the forums other than to comment briefly on Recent Updates. But with SoF came my "toxin". It was the last straw for me and the only thing that could begin to restore my lost faith in Jagex is if they do something about SoF that stops the feeling of having it shoved down our throats all the time. That and remove the buying of xp and gold in whatever form they appear.

A side note, I find this thread highly amusing. It's just more hints that Jagex clearly think we're all stupid little brats that can't see past their actions and marketing ploys.

I used to report bots from February 2005 up until the release of SoF 2nd April. That's the day Jagex showed me they have no intentions of fighting RWT and gambling. So why should I, or anyone else, bother reporting rulebreakers when Jagex basically allows it?

Congratulations Jagex on making progress to your milestone, 200 Million Accounts, Bots, Legit Beings, Banned Accounts, Hacked Accounts, Accounts that have been dropped, either way, the numbers do not lie, going from Prospering over many other MMORPGs to experimenting with Trade Systems and Player vs Player and also the severe amount of updates, even with all the negativity received, things managed to bounce back well enough without going to extreme measures. Even out of game there had been competition, what with the many Sites that offer Real World Trading promotions to many of the Players In-Game for a chance to easily earn Experience and Gold with little to no effort at all, players could Level their Skills Quick and Efficiently, but the money would 'not be going to good use' so, why not take a "Legal" advantage to the whole Real World Trading Scheme and offer minimal In-Game useful Items with the addition of Squeal of Fortune. I can not speak for the Community but, Congratulations with all that you have done, good or bad, from 2001 to 2012, Classic to Runescape 2.
