In all honesty, this looks like a rushed decision considering the EoC has been out for only 4 months, compared to companies like Square Enix which are being constantly asked for a Final Fantasy 7 remake and being told not until we make a better game than FF7.
This vote should be held off till atleast November to give the EoC a full year of being the live game, otherwise it looks like a lot of membership has been placed into a wasted project.
I'm also concerned with how the support from the jagex side of things will be considering I've seen numerous posts across these forums about the Funorb section being completely abandoned.
The only reason this is coming about is due to a community of players that have no intention of learning the new system for PvP purposes.
Also I don't see these servers making much money longterm, the era being restored for most of the community was only so good due to a lot of memories (and also being a noob, everything was fascinating with the game), basic nostalgia, the game is in a far better state now than it was back in 2007.
Seeing Jagex actually consider this hurts me to some extent, it's basically admitting defeat something that has been happening more and more recently over the past few months.
I really hope these servers don't go live at all, but when there's a lot of players that have their parents funding their subscriptions I really do see these servers coming to see the light of day.
