As usual, a lot of the complainers didn't carefully read the post. I won't bother explaining the misconceptions because it's all answered already.

After carefully reading it, it looks not only like the company is doing a very generous thing for ALL our players, but they're doing it in the most sound way possible.

People suggesting f2p vote, it really is not a very legitamte vote, since some f2p have only played rs for 1 day, while ALL paying members are actually investing in Jagex. Granted some f2p have spent considerable time and money in the game, but assuming Jagex does have a record of every dime you spent and how much time you spent skilling rather than botting, how would they define a cut off point for what f2p are eligable to vote. Also, this would mean they'd raise their goals. I hope noone here thinks they'd let millions more vote (half of which are retired accounts) and not raise the bar for voting. iIf you're member we know you're invested, and more than likely you are actively paying (not everyone has money to pay for a subscription they don't use).

Further more, though it might be possible to migrate items and stats to the old server, because 2007 is so different from current rs, that makes it too easy to introduce new bugs and glitches. Can you imagine how unfair it would be if Jagex forgot to program virtus wands not to be in the old game. If they did work they'd be massively overpowered and rare, and what about players who trained 120 dungeoneering. What will become of their stats. It's just simpler, easier, less time, less money, less buggy to start everyone at level 3 with no items.

To put it simply, you guys are asking for too much. Yes it's not perfect, but nothing ever is so quit your whining. Be happy they're giving you oldscape.

Most people who want an earlier version of the game quit, you can't vote unless you're a member
now i could get membership and vote but the actual 2007 servers don't come out until 1-2 MONTHS after the poll
this means my membership would run out before the actual servers are out

if they were to come out right after the poll i'd get membership now

my suggestion to fix this: allow everyone to vote but track the votes for members and non members so that it meets the original goal of the poll AND sees with the free-to-play community would like as well
basically 2 different polls combined into one (obviously increase the goal in votes as more players will be able to vote)

As a very active player since 2005 i'd love to see these servers come back for free, apart from the membership cost (jagex has to make money some how!)

The poll is directed towards current players YET the update is directed towards old players, it shouldn't be like that

Who wouldn't vote yes? I don't understand it, If you want to keep playing the current version of RuneScape you can, this doesn't effect you at all, this is just for the people who want to play the old school version. Why do you care if we want to play the old one?

Why not add a vote to see what era the players want? I joined around 2007 and it was great and all...
But 2010 was my favorite due to all the awesome quests out at the time and PvP worlds. Risk alot, get nothing. I didn't care. It was all good fun.

Other than that, I will surely vote and hopefully play and dedicate time to this 2007 server.

Still hoping for a 2009 one, though =P

Last time I checked the forums, you people were ready to pay $20+ for these servers. I see no reason why you're blaming Jagex/whining when it was you people who had implemented the idea.

In my opinion, EoC has deestroyed the game. And I know speak for MANY! So many people has already quit the game because of this update.
It just doesnt have the same feel.
Lets think about this... The reason we joined up with RuneScape to begain with was because of its originallity. There was NOTHING else like it! The combat system was easy to learn, and easy to use.
After EoC, RuneScape became just like all the other games.

Even though I do not agree to this, I can see why you would at least make a poll about it. This is the year for players right!? However, I really hope that the people wanting this into the game won't quit after three week because they have no idea how hard it will be to restart fresh.
