Everyone cannot simply start from scratch. There has to be higher-leveled players already in the game because this is an economy we're trying to run. Higher-leveled players defeat monsters and receive the drops that are sold to lower leveled-players for their own gear. High levels craft bracelets, rings, and everything you need to buy for the money that you have earned... and that creates the economy.

Back in 2007, there were always higher leveled players that sold you items to improve your account. Where are you going to buy a rune full helm as a low level if it was the higher levels that received it as a miscellaneous drop from a greater demon?

To illustrate my point, imagine the world ended and everyone had to start "from scratch" as a baby. You wouldn't be able to feed, clothe, or take care of your basic needs which is the adult's job. Higher levels did that for us, and that's why we didn't go months of just training at a safe area as a low level when you could buy better gear from high levels and train faster in more dangerous areas.

First off, I DID vote for the 2007 server.Heck i would vote for any backup of Runescape WITHOUT EOC.
I don't mind that we have to start over from scratch.I don't like it but can't get everything. No i did not play in 2007 so i would not have stats or bank from that period. But i do have my current stats and am very pleased with them.My loot is not in the billions of billions but it is my loot that i EARNED not merched or gambled.Jagex made a mistake shoving EOC down our throats and only letting beta testers vote on it. What about all the players that did not go to the beta? Isn't that a vote on what we wanted? Now that profits have mysteriously tanked for Jagex, they suddenly find an old(very old) version of Runescape without the dreaded EOC. They throw together an unadvertised vote and very high poll requirements to make sure we fail and they can save face on an embarrassing so called business decision that lost players by the thousands. Then toss an extra fee on the subscription service to help pay for their bad decisions. Surprised there is anyone wanting to even play this game now. The only reason i got a vote on this 2007 release was Jagex did not want to refund my left over 6 month subscription.I truly hope we get an EOC free Runescape, 2007 or 2008 or 2009 or 2010 or 2011 or even 2012 as long as it does not have that stinking, unwanted, unvoted EOC.

Yes... Except we can take of ourselves. It will be fun trying battle it out and become the first one with rune and all the other items. It's not impossible to rebuild, like your baby example, but you are right it is a lot harder. The game had to have its first beginners sometime. It will take some time for it to be the way it was, but nonetheless the way it was. The future is bright and patience is key.

" Don't understand why old players or free players are reluctant to vote. You buy membership for 1 month, you vote and then you cancel membership. Everyone gets 1 month free 2007 runescape membership anyways so really you're not wasting money.
"

If you are going to continue playing Runescape. ;)

Personally, I don't like being told to do one, then be asked to pay them money to vote for a half-heart consolation. (If that's even what 07 RS even is?)
Hope this helps clear a perspective up for you.
:)

I will not line their pockets for a game that is not enjoyable to play.
I will not line their pockets to vote for an older version, to have to re-live the last 10 years (10 years p2p too). I haven't even met my in-game targets for my real account yet either!
07 RS.... +1 from me
EoC to be removed.

Would I play 07 RS if the infamous EoC was removed?
No I would return to Runescape. (Though I would probably start an account on there too as a sideline)

It takes awhile for people to get high levels. But within time, more and more high players will emerge and more will be made. Do you think when RS started there was a bunch of high levels? The economy will start on its own and once it gets going it will progress and a faster and faster rate.

There's a calm, but quiet lull during all of this celebrating that's making some good points: "We're not kids anymore! We don't have time to retrain our accounts and feel like our hard work has gone to waste because of Jagex's EoC mistake!"

While a vocal bunch of you seem very intent on "starting anew", you forget the downsides including: plagues of bots, months before the game stabilizes enough to be enjoyable, and lack of ambition to retrain the same stats people already have. Listen to the voice of reason, most of us in favor for stat transferal are older players in our 20's looking to play casually with the accounts we created as kids.

We're also viewing the downsides of starting anew via a logical lens rather than being emotionally driven like many of our younger, less hormonally stable kin. Unlike younger players, we simply don't have the time to be invested in any state of RuneScape at this point in life (but we do have jobs that supply members money!)

So hear me out:
What we need is stat crossover! Wherein players can train up their skills in the overwhelmingly more efficient 2013 server, and then bring them over to the 2007 server to PK/PvM with a separate bank.

Not sure this part is quite right...
