I'd like to express two sides of my feelings for this announcement.
One the left hand, I'm very impressed as well as proud of Jagex for being considerate of their customers and caring for them, and for being a fair, kind, and open-minded developing team. Kudos to being the actual only game company that fully listens and considers to their players.
One the right hand, I'm also a bit disappointed with Jagex for giving in to what feels like peer pressure to me. I'm happy to see they are kind-hearted, but I feel their hearts are too open sometimes. I hope that it wasn't the ones who "claim" loyalty to Jagex that forced them to open up a separate server.
What is Loyal?
A Loyal player cares for the game and the future of the game as it is in the current state. A loyal player does not ragequit just because an update does not suit their play-style, or does not meet their standards of the game. A loyal player plays the game as it is, and decides if they can enjoy it. If said loyal player no longer has the love for the game as it is currently, as they did when it once was, said loyal player is not considered loyal, unless they can continue to play even through the game's hardest and toughest times. A loyal player suggests new content, or suggests updates to existing content. They provide constructive feedback to their game, not whining posts and rage-flames, and rage-quit threats. When any of the above become null, then the player is no longer as loyal as they claim to be.
Bottom line, a Loyal player sticks with their game, and developers, through thick and thin and deal with the hard times, adapt to any new changes, and enjoy the game to its absolute fullest.
After reading my post, how many of you whined about the game being ruined? Then how many of those same whiners called yourselves "Loyal Players".
Jagex, I will Vote "Yes" to the upcoming Voting for the startup of the new '07 server, not for the whining false dedication, but for the loyal players who deserve it.
