I can just imagine the discussion this has already generated, and I'm not about to read it all, because well, it is pointless.
This announcement pretty much assures me the game is well on its way to the cybergrave.
This is a front, a clever hidden front, for a members' price hike, disguised as "listening to the passionate playerbase".
Whatever happens, we members who are still paying the broken game that is current Runescape ala EoC,for whatever reason, are getting set to get scrooed yet again*
**. Gerhard full well knows (and quickly moved to combat the 'notion' with unsupported statements on "active" member numbers) that there are about enough paying members to instate this idea of 2007 servers ... at one of the two lower tiers. Even if there were 500k players that would vote for this idea (not likely from some maths I'm sitting looking at regarding percentages of bots etc.), the numbers would be fudged so they will get the automatic price hike they're really looking for.
So, aside from them not listening to us about EoC beta, not listening to us about holding off EoC implementation, not listening to us about removing it and giving our combat from last fall back for awhile .... Yeah, and don't tell me Mr. Gerhard that you don't have backups from last year (!).
Instead of taking the resources and time, and talent, and either making the game workable WITH EoC, or giving us back the fully functional game we had a few short months ago, they're going to stick their hands deeper in our pockets and bring back something that ... no matter what they say ... can never truly be the same again.
Learn this, if you learn nothing else soon in your thus-far short lives, children. You can never go back.
What's so damned clever about this is that it doesn't matter whether we abstain from voting or not. They're set to do this, and to raise our membership cost in the process. And I am here to tell you, if you do this****. Gerhard I for one am gone ...
