I have no problems with introducting rares in the new 2007 Server Mod Pips. Just as long as nothing is transferrable from the 2 servers to the other one it will all be fine.
I am in total, 100% support of this 2007 backup server to be re-established for the community. Game development has been really bad all across the board for PC and consoles for the past 2-3 years. Software companies are becoming more and more geared on releasing quantities of games versus quality of games. So, naturally, FPS's are on the rise and us picky, hardcore gamers are finding less and less content to satisfy our demand. The last good releases were Demons' Souls/Dark Souls and Kingdoms of Amalur on Ps3, well over a year/around a year ago. I was saddened to have RuneScape bring in elements of other big MMORPG's like the EoC for competition against games like WoW. You can't compete against a game developer that has several years more experience in the business of correctly setting up user interfaces for hotkey rotations and button smashing. You just can't. RuneScape and WoW/EverQuest/AoC,etc.. are two TOTALLY different types of MMORPG's, and people play BOTH types for DIFFERENT TYPES of gameplay. I know a lot of very hard work was put into the creation of the EoC and that it has received the whole spectrum of reactions, but I think it only fair to give the ones who want a simple-minded, thoughtless game to remain SIMPLE-MINDED and THOUGHTLESS. This is the very ESSENCE of RuneScape and why people PLAY(ed) it.
As for the input of rare/discontinued items into the new 2007 server, I have read multiple opinions and have finally agreed on the best idea. I believe it is very healthy to the RuneScape spirit to have rare items for "flaunting". In the first stages of the new game, have the rare/DC items have an extremely low drop rate on all mobs, and then stop production after a certain time.
Well, that's my two-minute spiel on the subject. I really do have a different opinion about you guys at Jagex after your careful consideration to bring back the old joys of 2007 for us faithful veterans.
