@ Altoidsminer

I believe he was saying you would only have a select amount of rares available in the store at that price, and once they are bought out they then become the ONLY rares in circulation amongst the population.

In my opinion, who gives a crap about rares. Why do people even care? I would rather see the game without them, as they were never intended to be worth so much money in the first place.

Rares well idk maybe award them to the first 100 people to reach 99 in a skill, the first 100 people to complete all quests thats about 2000 rares in total. make easy skills drop sanat/masks and hard skills drop phats. limit players to 1-5 rares via this method.

maybe throw them in on the rare drop table say 1 in 100,000 drop chance untill 100 are dropped

maybe add a chance to get the during a great feat e.g

Killing jad has 1 in 10,000 drop chance untill 100 are dropped
barrows chest 1 in 100,000 untill 100 are dropped
maybe enter names into a hat and have a mod pick them out live on youtube

or just do away with them have tresure trails and dragon full helm as the new rares

I'm all for this. It will be like RSC again, just hopefully not left to die after a month or two. I don't mind starting with nothing but a Wooden Shield, Bronze Sword, etc. Actually gives me a reason to do the one thing I don't do much of in the main game; quests. In fact, I'm actually planning how I'm going to tackle playing on this 2007 server as I type this. Still debating what kind of account I want to be though.

For those complaining about starting from scratch, here is some advice:
-Do Recipe for Disaster for gloves; they're cheap and give good bonuses, not to mention you could have Steel Gloves below 10 combat and in theory up to Adamant around 30ish combat.
-Recruitment Drive gives you pretty much free full Mithril (in Initiate armor)
-Don't forget about Pirate's Treasure and Black Knight's Fortress; both give decent cash rewards to help early on
-You could easily use Shortswords in place of Scimitars. Not quite as strong, but still just as fast. I would go as far to say until people kill tons of Fire Giants, Rune Swords will likely become a staple weapon for 40-59 Attack players.

Hopefully the above tips will help people cope with starting from scratch.

Louellen, it all depends on how Jagex runs things anyway. If they do the Recruit a friend, bring in SOF and make easy experience days etc, you may well be right. If they stick to the original principles of the game and don't listen to foolish children who have no idea how things work, it will have a chance.

But stop blaming the players, it is the content developers who make the choices that drive away the players.

And people, the rares exist in the present form of the game. If we get a clean slate, they won't exist there, they will exist here (here as in what RS is at this present moment).

I honestly don't think people realize just how much fun a clean slate with slow experience rates could be. No, you can't go out to level 50 wild right away, but in the meantime a real, true, interactive community will have the chance to develop.

MASTER ZONE

"As has been said over and over again, the wilderness was empty way before the EoC was even announced...

Your ass must hurt from pulling so much bull out of it."

_________________________________________________________________________

If only you knew how wrong you were... I have been an active pker since classic. In recent times i pked almost daily since wildy was restored. I can tell you right now i never had to go more than one or two minutes to find a fight in edge, any time of the day or night. Also, I'm Australian so I mostly play in off peak RS times.

Yes, the rest of the wildy was mostly dead and we haven't seen green dragon, graveyard or magebank pking in a long time. But that is mostly to the inclusion of OP weapons and armour making edge pking the safest and most profitable/fun way to utilize the wilderness.

I guarantee with the inclusion of an 07 server, magebank and deeper wildy hybriding will return in numbers, as will edge pking.

@louiellen "This will be my last post on this thread, since people forget Runescape's history.

My personal fearless forecast:

Just count 6-months, and those very same people pushing for this 2007 server will be the very ones that shall abandon it. Runescape 2007 flavor will be nothing but Runescape Classic 2.0, and its playerbase will shrink to the same number of players playing RSC today.

We have living memory of this, since 6-months after the re-introduction of the wildy pk after earning millions of votes - the very same people that voted for it were absent from the wildy (pre-eoc wildy) after 6 months.

*end of statement*"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is why you are wrong... The new 2007 server will be better than EocScape, therefore more people will play it!
In contrast, when RS2 came out people left RSC because RS2 was better. It's quite frankly, common sense if you ask me.

This is how I kind of see it.

People (like myself) are dying for the Runescape 2007 servers. I hope we get them. But if people get bored playing the 2007 servers, or just simply need a break from training, they can simply hop back to the main game and play on their main account. It's basically starting back in time with nothing (Except that 25gp and a few air and mind runes!) and working your way back up the ladder. I won't be looking to max out in anything, but I WILL be in it for the nostalgia of pre-EoC era.
