What people are failing to realise is if you fall for this crap you will never get your outstanding membership back after 12 months as you will be expected to renew your premium gold la de da deal for another 12 months the only way you would get it back would be if you pull out of the premiumm gold la de da deal to use up your existing membership on a dead non beta runescape world whereprobably the only players on it would be bots whose operators have forgotten to cancel membership.Which reminds me to cancel mine too! adios runescape it was good while it lasted.

@Kossith Jagex could cut servers down atm if they wanted there arn't more people online than currently the servers hold. The influx of new players should generate enough income to run servers on tablets anyway.

The fact is when they go to tablet they will sell gold and xp cause people on tablets will buy it. Top tier members will get access to more skills and minigames and bosses and things than other members. I know they havn't revealed this yet. However we can see from the release of SOF till now than Jagex has no line. They will not stop.

WoW costs £10 for just the normal game, has 4 dlc's costing £5-20 each.

The just having the original game still costs £10 a month and you only get to level 60, with the other dlc's you are level 90, that's 30 levels ahead.

I'd rather pay £40 a year where every content is free (new bosses etc) then waiting a year or 2 to get a new boss, then realise i have to pay £20-30.

You're assuming everyone wants runecoins and spins. I disagree with the whole microtransaction scheme that has been implemented, and generally don't want anything from SGS or to get any extra SoF spins (I haven't claimed the 200 free coins and haven't used free spins since they implemented spins for real money). That means that the runecoins are a total waste, and really not a contributing factor. The only reason I'd get the gold instead of the silver package would be the cosmetics and the greater price reduction.

Like I said before, the other stuff should be 'bonuses' not part of the savings; it should just be a savings on membership because you're paying in advance.

@Kossik: Actually I HAVE seen graphs, on a platinum fansite of RS: Tip.it (which I'm allowed to mention, since it's a platinum fansite :P ). Jagex makes enough profit off running ads on f2p to run the f2p servers, they even made slight profit on that alone (now even more with the number of f2p servers decreased and the amount of ads increased). The membership fee for P2P gave them a load of profit, more than they needed to simply update the game at a steady pace. Enough to make the company grow.

Which they tried, with stuff like Funorb, 8realms, etc, but all of these endeavors have failed it seems (though I heard their latest release, though not entirely of their own make, is pretty good: Aces of Spades).

In short, the p2p fee alone is enough to keep their company running and even give them an acceptable profit to invest in their company.

@Kossith Each WoW expansion is like a full MMO though. WoW has more content than Runescape and has been out less time. I personally do not enjoy the content particularly quests in WoW as much but still they clearly are doing something Jagex isn't they have millions of subscribers.

Same here, but frankly it is no longer the case that all content is free in RS. And judging from things like this premier club, I am afraid it will be even less so in the future. And if we actually got new bosses, quests etc at a regular basis, and by regular I mean the old frequency of 1 quest a month, ~1 skill a year, a minigame or two a year, and just good content in general, then all would be fine.
