For those who still say that "ive been member for ages" If you have, then you should of got the cheaper version, since i still pay £3.50, its £44 instead of £49.99

It's £44.95 whether you pay £3.50 or not.

@Kossith: I honestly could care less for free items. All I mean to say is that Jagex is actually not caring about their loyal customers, and only care about getting as much money from new members as they can. At least that's the way it appears to me.

I think it's enough that we get a discount on our recurring membership fee. But this discount should be extended to bulk membership purchases such as this. Effectively loyal members would be paying more for the same extras.

And all in all I'm not even here to talk about 'loyal members' vs other members. I just think that Jagex has been focusing too much on short-term profits and less on quality content the past year or so, and while there have been good updates (PoP, Wizard tower update for example) they have been exceptions rather than regularity.

The fact that they're now giving beta access and exclusive info to people who are willing to get a 'premier' membership to me just hints at the fact that they will do more thinks alike this in the future, and perhaps even go as far as creating a whole new tier of membership.

In the past it used to be such that all members were equal, and all content was unlocked for all members. The only difference between accounts was how much time and effort was invested in them. But lately this has been changing, and now it seems to me that real-life wealth is playing a larger and larger role in distinguishing oneself from the masses.

While I wouldn't mind this as much if the cosmetic upgrades were the only thing we'd need to pay for (and if it were in fact ONLY cosmetic upgrades), the fact remains that in Runescape, on top of the membership fee, we can opt to pay for these cosmetic goodies and even for skill experience and in-game wealth through the Squeal of Fortune (thus breaking one of their own in-game rules, or at least the thought behind it: 'Real-life situations should have no effect on performance in game'

I'm a bit divided on this. On the one hand, I think that offering a discount (assuming current price and not the older one) for purchasing a year of membership is reasonable, especially if you're already planning on being a member all year. Adding the beta access is interesting, mostly as there's really only been the one beta before (EoC), but it's kind of nice way to limit to people that at least plan on committing to the game. Even adding the cosmetics is a nice addition, since a lot of people that don't/can't use game cards can get some of those.

However, the runecoins and spins make me not really want to do this. I don't use them, don't want them, and I'd just feel bad about having them. I can also see the point of the uber-veterans that have the lower price not wanting this at all. Basically, it's one thing if this is just a discounted membership for paying in advance (which is reasonable) with a few additions, but it's another thing if this is just another "Please RWT, except it's not RWT because we get the money!"

Last, and most importantly, please stop using 'tasty' to describe everything you release. It's getting WAY overused, and it's starting to just get associated with microtransactions and other cringe-worthy updates. Not to mention, it really should just be used for food...

having seen recent comments on the internet about Jagex as a company,

"Focus on less about the money and more about the opportunities and content."

&

"Potential but rapidly going downhill"

I honestly wouldn't pay a year in advance for anything put out by Jagex, their demise could be just around the corner.
